A LETTER FROM TKA’S PRESIDENT Dear TKA Family, TKA Cares! As we review the 2017-2018 school year, it’s clear that God’s Kingdom is advancing locally and globally through the ministry of The King’s Academy. TKA Last year, with a fantastic group of King’s faculty and staff, I had the privilege of escorting the Class of 2018 through five countries comprising the British Isles and of Cares joining TKA’s International Studies Program in three cities across China. One of my favorite memories of the senior trip was an outdoor Sunday morning devotional with our students led by TKA Director of Student Ministries Stephen Kimpel. At the bottom of Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh, within walking distance of beautiful yet spiritually-dead Scottish cathedrals, God’s Word was alive and proclaimed. In China, I was told that students often choose King’s because it is a Christian school and Chinese families know that Christian teachers are more caring and nurturing. The love of Christ is alive at TKA, and students know us by our love. Last year, prior to the current political unrest, TKA students served in Nicaragua by building homes, feeding the hungry, donating school uniforms, and loving children. They were the hands and feet of Christ to the poorest of the poor. They were hope in an otherwise hopeless situation. Currently, plans are underway for next year’s first-ever senior trip to Iceland—a country where naturalism and new age mysticism now exceed the former influence of Christianity. The largest Christian church in the country has only 200 members, but as we travel to this beautiful land, King’s Class of 2019 will be a witness for Christ. For almost 50 years, God has called us to be counter-cultural at TKA—to be His light to the lost. And, that is exactly what we are doing and will continue to do. God’s redemptive plan for a hurting world must be on display at The King’s Academy and wherever we go. Thank-you for loving God, serving one another, caring for others, and helping 60 acres of good soil at the corner of Belvedere and Sansbury to produce a global harvest. As you read this report, please join me in praising our King, the One who makes this excellence possible! Sincerely, Randal L. Martin President THE KING’S ACADEMY 3 PRESIDENT’S REPORT TKA YEAR IN REVIEW 2017-2018 AUGUST 2017 2 3 8 9 9 10 10 16 17 2 The King’s Academy’s faculty and staff returned to campus and were welcomed back with breakfast in the TKA Café. • Mcdonald, New Brunswick and Prince Edward County
Family of Daniel McDonald, New Brunswick and Prince Edward County compiled by John A. Brebner for the Friends of Sandbanks 29 March 2021 Generation One 1. Daniel/David McDonald #67333, b. c. 1755? in Scotland? . From "Pioneer Life in the Bay of Quinte", 1904 "The McDonald Family." "The ancestors of this family came originally from Scotland from which country they fled at the time of the massacre of Glencoe *; eventually their descendants located in New Brunswick in the early days of the settlement of that province. Here were born David, Henry, John, William, Daniel, George, James, Alexander, Francis, Nancy and Susan; all of whom appeared to have emigrated to Prince Edward County and to have settled in or near Hallowell directly after the War of 1812." Local lore suggests that there were fewer children, but based on the McDonald families in Hallowell Township whose ancestry suggest both a New Brunswick birthplace, as well as their common religious beliefs within the Church of Christ Disciple at West Lake, the "Pioneer Life..." extract from 1901 is more likely... This is very much a genealogy in progress. There are many "loose ends", folks that seem to have disappeared from both Ontario and the United States. One of the major problems in tracing descendants of this family is that they often used their middle names, or nick-names later in life, rather than the first names that appear on their birth certificates, or in early census data. Daniel arrived in Prince Edward County after the War of 1812 from New Brunswick with five (more likely) sons and three daughters * (see conflicting data from above source).

  • Roman Martyrology by Month
www.boston-catholic-journal.com Roman Martyrology by Month 1916 Edition January February March April May June July August September October November December The following is the complete text of the Roman Martyrology circa 1900 A.D. Many more Saints and Martyrs have since been entered into this calendar commemorating the heroic faith, the holy deeds, the exemplary lives, and in many cases the glorious deaths of these Milites Christi, or Soldiers of Christ, who gave 1 every fiber of their being to God for His glory, for the sanctification of His Holy Catholic Church, for the conversion of sinners both at home and in partibus infidelium 1, for the salvation of souls, and for the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, even as He had last commanded His holy Apostles: “Euntes ergo docete omnes gentes: baptizantes eos in nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti. Docentes eos servare omnia quæcumque mandavi vobis.” “Going therefore, teach all nations: baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.” (St. Matthew 28.19-20) While the Martyrology presented is complete, it nevertheless does not present us with great detail concerning the lives of those whose names are forever indited within it, still less the complete circumstances surrounding and leading up to their martyrdom. For greater detail of their lives, the sources now available on the Internet are extensive and we encourage you to explore them.2 As it stands, the Martyrology is eminently suited to a brief daily reflection that will inspire us to greater fervor, even to imitate these conspicuously holy men and women in whatever measure our own state in life affords us through the grace and providence of Almighty God.

It is with pleasure, therefore, that I am able to announce the fulfillment of these desires. The Breviary, translated by Father Aquinas Byrnes, O.P., is now in the process of publication at Rome, while the translation of the Dominican Martyrology has just completed. The Martyrology is one of the six official books of the Church's liturgy, its use in the choral recitation of the Divine Office is obligatory. Because of the salutary effects derived from the reading of this sacred volume, various Pontiffs have urged its use by those who recite the Office privately.

Catolicismo, no. 220-221 – April-May 1969 – Hidden Groups Plot Subversion in the Church 1 Baroque crucifix venerated at TFP National Council headquarters in São Paulo (the actual corpus of Our Lord is 32 cm high). From a 32-picture study by Studio F. Albuquerque, São Paulo. HIDDEN GROUPS PLOT SUBVERSION IN THE CHURCH On the Cross Our Lord Jesus Christ suffered not only because of the moral and physical abuse inflicted by His executioners. He also suffered anticipating all the sins that would be committed until the end of time. Among them, the secret plot hatched in powerful Catholic circles to ‘reform’ the Church and turn her into a pantheist, demythified, desacralized and disalienated New Church at the service of communism undoubtedly was one of the most atrocious torments of our Divine Redeemer Who, with His Life, Passion and Death taught precisely the opposite of these clamorous errors. Catolicismo, no. 220-221 – April-May 1969 – Hidden Groups Plot Subversion in the Church 2 Next to the Paris-Lyon railway, an employee controls the level crossing. Is she married or single? What are her beliefs, thoughts and way of life? Nothing transpires. She is just like any other employee. This is the "new look" of women religious in the New Church according to the aspirations of the so-called “prophetic groups.” This is the "ideal" of desacralization: Nuns should display nothing sacred or with an appearance of sacred. This employee is Sister Germaine, of the Dominican Order (this picture and the first two on the last page are from a report by Robert Serrou quoted in footnote 34 of the text).
