‘SWEET PECAN SUMMER’ Cast Bios

CHRISTINE KO (Amanda) – Christine Ko currently stars as Emma in the FX series “Dave.” The series is based off real-life rapper and comedian Dave Burd, best known to his fans as Lil Dicky, and is executive produced by Kevin Hart and Scooter Braun, among others. Most recently, she was seen as the female lead in the original film “Tigertail,” from director Alan Yang.

Ko’s other recent credits include the short film Yugen, which screened at Film Independent, the Seth Grahame Smith and Marc Webb produced series “Just Beyond” for Disney+, series “Upload” and a season-long arc on “Hawaii Five-0” for CBS. She was also featured as the female lead in Justin Bieber’s most recent music video, “Hold On.”

Ko’s additional television credits include the CBS comedy series “The Great Indoors” and the second season of HBO’s hit football comedy series “Ballers,” where she played a Miami socialite opposite Andy Garcia. She also starred in the digital series “Relationship Status,” alongside Milo Ventimiglia and Shawn Ashmore.

Ko is a graduate of Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Arts in communication and minor in finance.

WES BROWN (J.P.) – Wes Brown was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he attended Louisiana State University. Prior to graduating from LSU, Brown got his big break right in his home state filming the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced 2006 sports drama, “Glory Road,” which shot on location in Southern Louisiana. Soon after, he relocated to Los Angeles and landed another supporting role in the Warner Bros. feature, We Are Marshall, playing actor Ian McShane’s son.

Brown is perhaps best known for his role on HBO’s hit vampire series “,” in which he played Luke, a former football player with a vengeance against vampires.

Brown also had guest-starring roles on CBS’s “CSI: Miami,” “,” “NCIS” and “NCIS: New Orleans,” and on ABC’s “,” along with recurring roles on the NBC medical drama “Trauma,” The CW’s “90210” and “,” and ABC’s “Private Practice” and David Lynch’s “Twin Peaks.” He also portrayed Disney’s legendary Gaston on ABC’s “Once Upon a Time.” Additionally, Brown was a series regular on the Lifetime network’s “Beach Girls,” starring Rob Lowe, as well as on NBC’s “Deception.”

A favorite of Hallmark Channel fans, Brown has starred in the Hallmark Channel original movies “June in January,” “Love Begins,” “Love’s Resounding Courage,” “Shadow on The Mesa,” “Love Under the Stars,” “Christmas Cookies,” “Over the Moon in Love,” “Christmas at Graceland” and “Wedding at Graceland.”

LAUREN TOM (Carol) – Lauren Tom is an Obie Award-winning actress, known for her roles as a dutiful daughter in the film The Joy Luck Club, as Ross’ girlfriend Julie on the classic NBC ” and as Mrs. Tran on “Supernatural.” She also lent her voice talents on the animated series “” as the beloved character, Amy.

On television, Tom starred as a series regular in “” on The Disney Channel and on the Guillermo Del Toro series, “3Below: Tales of Arcadia” and “Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia.” She had a recurring role in the Amazon series, “Goliath,” alongside Billy Bob Thornton, and as Lucy’s mom in ABC’s “The Rookie.” Tom was a series regular on the ABC series “Men in Trees,” NBC’s “DAG” and ABC’s “Grace Under Fire,” with Brett Butler. She also had a recurring stint on the Showtime series, “Barbershop.”

On the big screen, Tom appeared in the films Grandma, with Lily Tomlin, Bad Santa, In Good Company, When a Man Loves a Woman, Mr. Jones, With Friends Like These, Catfish in Black Bean Sauce and Manhood.

Tom’s other voice work can be heard in the animated series “,” “Codename: Kids Next Door,” “Teacher’s Pet,” “,” “Max Steel,” “Batman,” “,” “,” “Baby Clifford,” “American Dragon” and the animated home video, “Mulan II.”

Her one-woman show, 25 Psychics, an engaging, humorous look at her quest for inner peace, premiered at HBO’s U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. The show received Dramalogue Awards for Best Performance and Best Direction.

Tom can also be seen in her first motion capture game, “Ghost of Tsushima,” as Lady Masako.

Tom has also published personal essays in Brain, Child Magazine, East West Woman, Strut and Freshyarn.com, and is currently writing a book based on these essays.
