Sv ir id o v received 24.II.2000 Summary: 630 species of the Noctuidae are listed for the modern Volgo-Ural fauna. 2 species [Mesapamea hedeni Graeser and Amphidrina amurensis Staudinger ) are noted from Europe for the first time and one more— Nycteola siculana Fuchs —from Russia. 3 species ( Catocala optata Godart , Helicoverpa obsoleta Fabricius , Pseudohadena minuta Pungeler ) are deleted from the list. Supposedly they were either erroneously determinated or incorrect noted from the region under consideration since Eversmann 's work. 289 species are recorded from the re gion in addition to Eversmann 's list. This paper is the fifth in a series of publications1 dealing with the composition of the pres ent-day fauna of noctuid-moths in the Middle Volga and the south-western Cisurals. This re gion comprises the administrative divisions of the Astrakhan, Volgograd, Saratov, Samara, Uljanovsk, Orenburg, Uralsk and Atyraus (= Gurjev) Districts, together with Tataria and Bash kiria. As was accepted in the first part of this series, only material reliably labelled, and cover ing the last 20 years was used for this study. The main collections are those of the authors: V. The Diversity of the Family Cetoniidae (Coleoptera: Scarabaeoidea) of Mountain Ozren (Bosnia and Herzegovina)

Research was conducted at six selected localities: Orlovac, Nahorevo, Čavljak, Skakvac, Bukovik and Crepoljsko. After 41 field investigations, 594 individuals were collected and determined as representatives of seven species. Collected data were processed with statistical software Biodiversity Pro and with options Diversity/Compare diversities: Alpha index; Berger-Parker index; Simpsons index; Margaleff index; Mackintosh index; Bray-Curtis Cluster Analysis: Single Link. By comparison of data it was concluded that Skakavac represents the typical locality for southern slopes of Mount Ozren. The species Oxythyrea funesta (Poda, 1761) is the most numerous faunistic element that was found. KEY WORDS: Cetoniidae, fauna, biodiversity, Ozren, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina Introduction After World War II the most important data on flower chafer Cetoniidae Leach, 1815 of Bosnia and Herzegovina were given by Rene MIKŠIĆ who investigated the area of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the entire Balkan Peninsula and most of the Palaearctic (MIKŠIĆ, 1950, 1953, 1956, 1958, 1962, 1965, 1970, 1976, 1977, 1980, 1982, 1987, e.g.). What little research done on this group after the war events in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1992-1995 was undertaken mostly by authors of this paper (LELO, 2000, 2003; LELO & KAŠIĆ-LELO, 2006a, 2006b, 2007; LELO & ŠKRIJELJ, 2001; KAŠIĆ-LELO, 2005, 2011; KAŠIĆ-LELO & LELO, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009a, 2009b; KAŠIĆ-LELO et al., 2006), but it has been so little that it can be said that no 56 M. -

INTRODUCTION The fauna of noctuoid moths (the families Erebidae and Noctuidae) of Kazakhstan is still poorly studied. Only the fauna of West Kazakhstan has been studied satisfactorily (Gorbunov 2011). On the faunas of other parts of the country, only fragmentary data are published (Lederer, 1853; 1855; Aibasov & Zhdanko 1982; Hacker & Peks 1990; Lehmann et al. 1998; Benedek & Bálint 2009; 2013; Korb 2013). In contrast to the West Kazakhstan, the fauna of noctuid moths of East Kazakhstan was studied inadequately. -

It is part of Balkan Mountains on the territory of Balkan Peninsula in Southern Europe. The most of the species are European-Asiatic floristic elements (14.54%), followed by European-Mediterranean floristic elements (13.78%) and subMediterranean floristic elements (13.52%). Among the vascular plants, there are 26 Balkan endemic species, 4 Bulgarian endemic species and 26 relic species. The species with protection statute are 66 species. The anthropophytes among the vascular plants are 390 species (49.74%). -

Ciubotaru” National Botanical Garden (Institute), Chisinau, Republic of Moldova Abstract: The morphometric parameters, density of individuals, reproductive strategy and the ability of adaptation of the populations of Convolvulus cantabrica L. in the “Lower Prut” Biosphere reserve (Cahul district) were studied. There were registered 7 fragmented populations (the biggest being cca 0,5 ha). Key words: Convolvulus cantabrica, flora, “Lower Prut” biosphere reserve, Republic of Moldova Currently, the processes of extinction of species and a decrease in the area of habitats of natural and semi-natural steppe vegetation are increasing. There is an urgent need to study the current state of conservation of rare and valuable plant species found in such areas. Due to the increasing sensitivity to changes in environmental conditions, accompanied by increased anthropogenic pressure, many species of steppe plants are considered endangered, many of them are taken under state protection. In the year 2000, after the adherence of the Republic of Moldova to the Ramsar convention, the lake area of Lower Prut got the status of wetland of international importance. The Ramsar convention calls for the wise use of wetlands and adjacent territories, and the Convention on Biological Diversity promotes the ecosystem approach for sustainable management of natural resources, it follows that for the improvement of ecosystem quality in the lower Prut region. -

As with all Honeyguide holidays, part of the price of the holiday was put towards a conservation project, in this case the Fundación Oso Pardo (FOP), the Spanish Brown Bear Conservation Foundation, and its work protecting both this species and its habitat in northern Spain. The conservation contribution this year of £40 per person was supplemented by gift aid through the Honeyguide Wildlife Charitable Trust. During the holiday, Fernando Ballesteros, chief biologist with the FOP, and Elsa Sánchez, a member of the team that patrols the area around Pesaguero, came to El Hoyal to talk to the group, showing an interesting film about Cantabrican brown bears. A lively discussion with members of the group about the biology and behaviour of these last few remaining bears ensued, after which Peter Crook presented Fernando with a cheque for 742€ (£640), which he accepted on behalf of the FOP.
