B. Earth Observations: • Space Applications Management System (SAMS) has been constituted, with the scope to dwell on the need aspect of satellite missions, associated ground segment, development of applications aligned with the national imperatives, and its optimal utilization to harness the benefits of space• based services in India. The Planning Committee of SAMS (PC-SAMS) which is the apex body, is chaired by Principal Scientific Advisor to Gal, and has Secretaries and Senior Officials of various Ministries/ Departments as members. Its Secretariat is headquartered at ISRO HQ, Bengaluru. PC• SAMS is supported by Ten theme-specific Standing Committees (SCs). 1 I. The First Meeting of PC-SAMS was held on 18 h June, 2021 and deliberated on (i) terms of reference of PC-SAMS and SCs (ii) the need aspects of the microwave imaging RISA T-1 A & 1 B and the ocean observation satellites Oceansat-3 & 3A, which are under different stages of realisation. II. As per the directives of PC-SAMS, the meetings of Standing Committees on Water (SC-W), Agriculture & Soils (SC-A&S), Bio-resources & Environment (SC-B&E), Disaster Management (SC-OM) and Ocean & Meteorology (SC-O&M) were also held, which evaluated the potential & plan of utilisation of data from both the pairs of satellites in the respective Ministries/ Departments, and recommended its earliest possible launch.
