Kyneton Botanic Gardens The picturesque gardens date back to 1858, featuring 17 trees listed by the National Trust of Australia and a drinking fountain dating back to 1902. Located on the traditional lands of the Taungurung people, the botanical gardens historical bluestone gateway and memorial drive were constructed in 1965 to celebrate the centenary of the shire of Kyneton.

The Kyneton Racecourse Known as the prettiest country racecourse, Kyneton held its first race meeting in 1853 through a spontaneous steeplechase over 1.5 miles. A meeting was held in 1857 at the Royal Hotel in Piper Street to discuss conducting an annual race in Kyneton, a committee was formed and the first formal race meeting, a 3-day, 10 race program was held in the current location at Campaspe Place in March 1857.

Kyneton Football Netball Club The Kyneton Football Netball Club (KFNC) was founded in 1868. The first match in Kyneton was played by a team consisting of 42 men dressed in waistcoats and shirts on a playing surface of 1.5 km in length stretching from the Showgrounds to the present Kyneton railway station. It was during the 1920’s that the Showgrounds Oval, the current home of the KFNC was opened.
