Resumen La conducta ética y moral de Walter White le ha convertido en uno de los personajes de fic- ción que ha levantado mayor debate entre críticos, académicos y a nivel popular. En este ar- tículo se indaga si esa fascinación sobre el antihéroe que provoca un posicionamiento moral acerca de su proceder, existe también al otro lado de la cámara. Para ello, se examinan aspec- tos como la escala y la angulación de los planos, la utilización de movimientos de cámara, los juegos de focos o el empleo significativo de la luz en cuatro momentos narrativos cruciales. These films actualize region as a cinematic imaginary through its authenticity markers – caste/ist practices explicitly, which earlier films constructed as a ‘trope’. The paper uses the concept of Heterotopias to analyse the recurrence of spectacle spaces in the construction of Madurai, and the production of caste in contemporary films. In this pursuit, it interrogates the implications of such spatial discourses. Spectacle spaces: Production of caste in recent Tamil films To foreground the study of caste in Tamil films and to link it with the rise of ‘caste- gestapo’ networks that execute honour killings and murders as a reaction to ‘inter-caste love dramas’ in Tamil Nadu,1 let me narrate a political incident that occurred in Tamil Nadu – that of the formation of a socio-political movement against Dalit assertion in December 2012. -

THE HEBREW HAMMER Written by Jonathan Kesselman Over BLACK, we hear the first few bars of Jingle Bells. The music morphs into an OMINOUS SCORE. With a thunderous BOOM, comes a TITLE CARD reading "HANUKKAH PAST." EXT. PUBLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - DAY We start on JESUS ON A CRUCIFIX, and then violently CRANE down to reveal MORDECHAI (10), a timid little Hasidic boy standing nervously at the foot of the statue. Behind Morty is a wall with the graffiti phrase "HANUKKAH IS 4 HOMOS" scrawled across it. He clutches his Sandy Koufax lunchbox tightly as he looks off into the distance. He's got quite a large bulge in his pants for a child his age. We see a menacing, EXTREMELY WIDE ANGLE shot of the school. Superimposed over the picture are the words, "ST. PETER, PAUL, AND MARY PUBLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOL." Mordechai takes a deep breath, and walks towards the school. EXT. SCHOOLYARD - MOMENTS LATER Mordechai walks past a row of bleachers occupied by FOUR GENTILE CHILDREN. GENTILE BOY 1 Hey Mordechai, look. I dropped a penny. He drops a penny. The other children cackle. The Gentile Girl next to him holds up a bag of bagels. GENTILE GIRL 1 Hey Mordechai. Want a bagel? Gentile Boy 1 feigns choking. GENTILE BOY 2 Hey Jew nose, save some oxygen for us. More laughter. Morty attempts to take it all in stride. We PUSH into GENTILE GIRL 2, a severe looking puritanically dressed child as she turns to face the camera. GENTILE GIRL 2 Hey Morty, my mom says that unless your people wise up and accept Jesus Christ as your lord and savior you're all going to burn in hell. -

Volume 7, Issue 1, Spring2011 Understanding Consumers’ Perceptions and Behaviors: Implications for Denim Jeans Design Osmud Rahman, Assistant Professor School of Fashion, Ryerson University, Toronto [email protected] ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to uncover the relative salient of intrinsic and extrinsic cues as determinants of consumers’ purchasing intent toward denim jeans. To the best of my knowledge, there is no comprehensive study reporting results from Canadian consumers’ perspective regarding their perceptions and behaviors toward denim jeans. A self-administered survey with Likert scale and open-ended questions were used for this study. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to analyze the salient factors and the correlation of six intrinsic cues and three extrinsic cues of denim jeans. A total of 380 useable surveys were compiled, analyzed and collated. The results of this study revealed that fit of denim jeans was the most important cue followed by style and quality, whereas brand names and country-of-origin were relatively insignificant. In terms of product cue correlation, fabric was strongly correlated with style, comfort and quality. Intrinsic cues played a more significant role on denim jeans evaluation than extrinsic cues. According to the results of this study, young consumers tended to use various product attributes to fulfill their concrete needs and abstract aspirations. Ali took the SIM card out of his cell phone, inserted it into a spare, blank phone, and hid his regular handset. By the time he was done, two police officers were knocking on the door. They put him in a car and drove to a nearby street, where two cars were waiting. The men put him in the back seat of one of the vehicles and got in with him. “They pushed my head down so I wouldn’t see where we were going,” Ali, who is around thirty years old, told me. Soon, the car pulled up to an unmarked building. Ali saw two men he knew standing in front: “Their faces were all swollen from beatings. One of them said, ‘I told them everything.’ ” Ali was taken into a room. “Their boss is sitting there, sprawled out,” he continued. “He says, ‘You take it up the ass.’ I start denying everything.” The boss asked Ali about another man, whom Ali knew to be gay. That morning, the man had called Ali and suggested that they meet. “I knew that if they tortured him he’d break and give everyone up,” Ali told me. He said to the police that he knew the man only as a business client. -
