2 3 Thoughts From The Publisher Welcome, Welcome, Welcome to the Black Hills! The hottest Rally Event in the world! Yes, I mean HOT. Black T-shirts only look cool. Kidding aside, it is very, very important – make sure you drink lots of fluid and keep hydrated. Dress in cool, light cotton and drink lots of water. Watch out for hail. It hurts. Enough with the weather and dressing and all that. I want to thank Sturgis County Line for the front cover, and this one is for you ladies - Mr. Paul Cox, photo by Michael Lichtner. Lots of places to see and lots of places to go. So let’s talk about S&S Motors Night at the Broken Spoke on Friday, at 9pm. That’s a MUST. Jessie James at the Full Throttle Saloon. The one and only Robo Bob demonstrating daily at the Black Hills Harley Davidson in Rapid City. And that’s a one-man show to see, too! I want to thank the Bone Yard for the back cover. They have great entertainment lined up, reasonably priced. And an awesome 70’s and 80’s line-up, so you old folks have a place to go. I’m in THAT crowd. And the Granddaddy of them all, the legendary Buffalo Chip. Rod, you’ve outdone yourself again, as always. Rod Woodruff caters to every musical taste, and brings the best entertainment from all over to this Event. Giveaways! How would you like to take a bike home? Well, they are giving them away. The drawing will be held August 8th at 9pm at the Sturgis County Line – you have to be there to win. Million Dollar Bike Ride – 15 of the biggest bike builders in the Industry. 11am in Deadwood on August 7th. This one is very important – Kids & Chrome Dinner at the Holiday Inn in Spearfish. It starts at 5-ish on the Aug. 8th. Hogs on the High Seas is sold out this year, but there are a bunch of other cruises to get on. This is one hell of a party, and the money goes to taking dialysis patients and their families on an all expense paid vacation. Now that’s Kool!!! If you don’t want to drink and drive, the best transportation is Da Bus. Check out the map inside by Thunder for your pick-up location. Trust me, it’s cheaper than visiting the new Sturgis jail. But I hear the food is very good there! I want to thank all our new advertisers. Please let our advertisers know that you saw them in the Biker’s Pocket Guide®. They are the ones that make this book possible, and if you would like to advertise our staff will be more than happy to assist you. Check out our website, www.bikerspocketguide.com . Breakdowns. Bummer. But Moon Cycle Repair will fix that tire or whatever part you need. Moon’s has it or can find it. He’s been doing this a long time. If you have a need for speed or want to make your bike sing, then get a hold of Cycle Solutions and Chris will take care of you. Also meet Gerald Rhinehardt Wednesday out at his location, exit 46, Piedmont. Wham Bam cleaning girls – gotta check them out! Your bike will never look the same. W8less Rotors is unbelievable. You gotta pick one up and see how light they are. Too cool. And for the people in Rapid City, the Radisson has a couple of killer bars there and a great location near the Convention Center where the Harley Davidson Company has an exhibit. The Jackpine Gypsies is why this Event is here. Stop out and see them race. You can get your Sturgis Beer at the Side Hack. It’s a really great commemorative can this year. Jodie Wise you do great artwork. I have lots of thank you’s to Matt at No Name City for being my web master, Joe and Mel for helping sell, Thunder – the BEST maps, Mike from Trike Creations – thanks for the cover art, to Paul – my sales manager (look out – he’s coming to see you soon), Linda – our native Indian on staff with the fastest fingers in the world, Jerry – as always you complete me (ha, ha), and last, but not least, Frank and Jane – the printers gods.
