Peter A. Herrera Curriculum Vitae Summary and Areas of Expertise Geologist with over 30 years of practical mining industry experience in the geosciences completing professional level work that includes: project management and oversight, site-evaluations, minerals exploration and mine geology; environmental studies, and geotechnical engineering studies. Diverse and knowledge in geochemistry, database management, ACAD and select computer based geologic - modeling programs such as SURPAC, core-logging, water-well installations and hydraulic testing, and MSHA and OSHA safety management. Recognized for abilities to resolve problems and obtaining solutions in the construction, soils engineering, environmental, and mining industries with a Master’s degree in Geology from the Colorado School of Mines. Professional Work History Golden Queen Mining Company, Mojave, California February 2014 to September 2017 Chief Geologist Developed a new resource and reserve model by compiling 25 years of historic and current geologic data. Revised the lithologic/structural, oxidation, and alteration models using Surpac. Supported mine management with many phases of the development and onset of production during the last quarter of 2015 from California’s newest open-pit precious metals mine. Additional work includes providing support in groundwater resource development, geotechnical pit slope stability, and process design. Responsible for establishing the mine’s geology department beginning with the hiring/training/managing of two full-time consulting geologists and four technicians. Located and organized thousands of old maps, reports and computer files from locations scattered throughout the mine property. Completed the re-logging and reinterpretation of rocks from over 80 diamond drill core holes and 750 reverse circulation drill holes, then developed cross-sections throughout the Soledad Mountain precious-metals deposit located near Mojave, California. Initiated the department’s computing, project evaluation system, and ore-control systems with modest resources. Completed two extensive infill drilling programs using RC and core drilling methods on time and within the set budget. More than 100 drill holes were completed during a two year time period that justified the completion of two open-pit gold and silver mines. High Desert Gold Corporation, Denver, Colorado 2007 to 2013 Consulting Geologist Project level work where I provided geologic/geochemical consulting services for mining and exploration projects in remote regions in North America. Supervised field crews and assisted other geologists with project management, core drilling and logging, geologic modeling, geochemical sampling programs and claim staking. Assisted with the preparation and publication of a NI 43-101technical report; interpreted research data, recommended further study and exploration ideas. Peter A. Herrera CVs-Page 2 Hergon Mine Securing Solutions 2010 to 2012 Project Mine Closure Manager and Owner Obtained an exclusive contract with the State of Nevada for the location, research, and mitigation/securing/closure of historic mine features and other mining related hazards located in remote mining districts throughout Nevada. In addition, I developed a large client base and provided geologic evaluations and concurrent mine closure services at sites throughout Nevada. Kensington Mine, Juneau, Alaska, Coeur Alaska, Inc. 2010 Consulting Mine Geologist For four months I managed underground exploration drilling activities, ore-control, core logging, surface mapping projects, and database management at an active underground gold mine located north of Juneau, Alaska. Provided a detailed geotechnical evaluation of an earthen tailings impoundment dam and provided management with a detailed list of potential downfalls in the construction design and the dams’ geologic conditions. Elko Environmental Services, Nevada 1994 to 2009 Project Manager, C.E.M. and Owner Responsible for execution of environmental field tasks and related office work, which included the development of work plans and report preparation. Tasks included but were limited to development of maps and drawings, data collection/environmental sampling, and data entry and analysis. Wrote cohesive Phase I, II & Remediation/Closure reports summarizing the evaluation of investigative results. Designed and completed a wide range of environmental projects, such as: removal of large USTs and UST replacement/repair projects; Phase I and II studies; HAZMAT emergency response projects; and groundwater and soil remediation projects. Developed and serviced a diverse client-base in northeastern Nevada and worked with local and State regulators for rapid site closures. Addwest Minerals, Inc., Oatman, Arizona 2005 to 2007 Senior Exploration Geologist and Mine Manager Conducted and collaborated in geological exploration and reviewed maps and drilling logs to determine location, size, accessibility, and value of mineral deposits, and optimal mining locations. Evaluated large tracts of land for mineral potential and located three high-grade precious metals targets including an epithermal vein and hot-springs system and a Cu-Au-Ag porphyry system using geological, geochemical, and geophysical techniques. Laid out and directed mine cleanup operations Geotemps, Inc., Reno, Nevada 2002 to 2005 Project Geologist Responsible for establishing, managing and prioritizing activities from geological evaluations to definition drilling. Was directly involved at numerous mine and exploration projects in Nevada and Alaska with core logging, mapping, resource/reserve calculations, geological and structural modeling, alteration identification and classification at a variety of mineral deposits. Peter A. Herrera CVs-Page 3 SRK, Inc., Fort Collins, Colorado 2000 to 2002 Project Geologist Completed and supported a wide range of engineering and environmental projects involving mining engineering, geology, hydrogeology, and environmental sciences in Montana, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, and Wyoming. Designed and managed environmental cleanup projects involving pump and treat and vacuum extraction groundwater treatment systems. Successfully designed, supervised the installation of a 2,200-feet deep production water well for a large power plant startup operation in southern Nevada. Responsible for all DMR and NPDES groundwater permitting, reporting, and monitoring requirements for uranium mine sites in Texas and a groundwater treatment facility for a solvent spill site in Loveland, Colorado. Newmont Mining Company, Carlin, Nevada 1992 to 1995 Mine Geologist Responsible for geologic, structural and alteration mapping of several active open-pit mine sites along the Carlin trend. Completed daily ore-control duties and integrated the results with mining engineering, surveying and mine-operations to optimize ore recovery and waste rock management. Re-logged over 600 drill holes and reanalyzed geologic data to develop an accurate and detailed geologic and geotechnical computer model for the Bobcat deposit, which contained over 1 million ounces of gold. Various Firms, Denver, Colorado 1987 to 1995 Project and Consulting Geologist Team member helping to solve large environmental problems in the transportation industry and HAZMAT clean-up projects; associate geologist on numerous precious metals exploration projects; completed underground/surface mine mapping projects and ore-control; in addition to working on geotechnical materials engineering and work in the petroleum industry.
