Blueprints Fall/Winter 2006 Recently approved modifications to the USKBTC constitution and by-laws will be mailed to members for a vote. After approval this summer, the AKC requested minor language modifications in the document. With a years experience and improved weather, MCKC personnel in co-operation with MC Community College did a good job of moving traffic and doing their best to meet everyone’s needs and expectations. Dr. Giger’s presentation on Factor XI Mutation was both well attended and received. Every test kit availa- ble was claimed and hopefully returned to Dr. Giger for utilization in his study. Thanks to ALL USKBTC members from around the U.S. who worked so hard to ensure the success of the Montgomery week events. Lisa Frankland, Bill Kearney, Dr. Jann Lane, Tom Rogers and Carol Wert were elected to the board. The new officers for the coming year are Carl Ashby, treasurer, Charlie Redman, secretary, Anthony Lopez, vice president and yours truly, president. Susan Schneider will work with Carl on 2007 dues collection. Dr. Jann Lane will collaborate with Charlie Redman on secretarial responsibilities. Lisa Frankland, our new national rescue co-coordinator, made recommendations to the board on compre- hensive changes in the USKBTC rescue program. We are seeking input from other breed clubs and the AKC as to their experience with such changes. Thanks to those who responded to the USKBTC Survey and Carol Kearney for compiling the results. While we wish the response (19%) would have been higher we were encouraged by the large number of members volunteering for various activities. You will be contacted! The survey is being utilized by the board with the objective of improving the USKBTC. Herding has been approved for Kerry’s on a trial basis in 2007 by the AKC. This offers all those interested in this unique sport an opportunity to further enjoy their Kerry’s. Permanent approval will be based on par- ticipation in herding events. The USKBTC Board of Directors passed a resolution recommending that all breeders have their puppies EITHER microchipped or tatooed prior to placing them. This action was taken at the October 4, 2006 Board meeting in Trevose Pa.This policy is consistent with the AKC'S position and supportive of it's CAR (Companion Animal Recovery) non-profit entity. The USKBTC sponsors microchip clinics at many of our events and encourages everyone to take advantage of this service. The USKBTC board has approved participation in the Purina PPCP program. Details on the program are published in this issue of BP and posted on the web site. • Dear PGCB, Our Family Is Very Opposed to a Casino in This Location
Name: Judy L.. Mason State: PA County: Lancaster ID: 419 RegID: 560 Dear PGCB, our family is very opposed to a casino in this location. It is disrespectful and too close in proximity to the Gettysburg National Military Park. What does this say about us as a people where so many men died and were wounded. Getttysburg more than any national park is known for the turning point of our country and the Civil War itself. Gettysburg is also know around the world. Putting a casino in this location will only cheapen the meaning of this sacred place. It is also a family destination. A casino will also change this, and also hurt the local`s economy . Please consider the other locations, but not Gettysburg. Your decision will decide how everyone looks at our state and nation. We can never get back anything once it is lost. Name: Jo Ann S. Buys State: TX County: Collin County ID: 423 RegID: 565 Gettysburg is a Sacred place. A casino would cheapen it. Please no casino at Gettysburg. As a historic traveler, I can tell you that when I visit these sacred places, I go for the history and I would not visit a casino. I live six hours from the Vicksburg Battlefied in Mississippi, and I have not once on any of my visits went to their casinos. If I want to gamble, I would take a trip to Vegas. Name: Patrick A. Swigart State: UT County: Salt Lake ID: 425 RegID: 568 I am not a local person. So you may take me as very insignificant and unimportant in the narrow picture.
