  • Quentin Tarantino's KILL BILL: VOL
Presents QUENTIN TARANTINO’S DEATH PROOF Only at the Grindhouse Final Production Notes as of 5/15/07 International Press Contacts: PREMIER PR (CANNES FILM FESTIVAL) THE WEINSTEIN COMPANY Matthew Sanders / Emma Robinson Jill DiRaffaele Villa Ste Hélène 5700 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 600 45, Bd d’Alsace Los Angeles, CA 90036 06400 Cannes Tel: 323 207 3092 Tel: +33 493 99 03 02 [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] From the longtime collaborators (FROM DUSK TILL DAWN, FOUR ROOMS, SIN CITY), two of the most renowned filmmakers this summer present two original, complete grindhouse films packed to the gills with guns and guts. Quentin Tarantino’s DEATH PROOF is a white knuckle ride behind the wheel of a psycho serial killer’s roving, revving, racing death machine. Robert Rodriguez’s PLANET TERROR is a heart-pounding trip to a town ravaged by a mysterious plague. Inspired by the unique distribution of independent horror classics of the sixties and seventies, these are two shockingly bold features replete with missing reels and plenty of exploitative mayhem. The impetus for grindhouse films began in the US during a time before the multiplex and state-of- the-art home theaters ruled the movie-going experience. The origins of the term “Grindhouse” are fuzzy: some cite the types of films shown (as in “Bump-and-Grind”) in run down former movie palaces; others point to a method of presentation -- movies were “grinded out” in ancient projectors one after another. Frequently, the movies were grouped by exploitation subgenre. Splatter, slasher, sexploitation, blaxploitation, cannibal and mondo movies would be grouped together and shown with graphic trailers.

  • Assignment 3 1/21/2015
Assignment 3 1/21/2015 The University of Wollongong School of Computer Science and Software Engineering CSCI124/MCS9124 Applied Programming Spring 2010 Assignment 3 (worth 6 marks) • Due at 11.59pm Thursday, September 9 (Week 7). Aim: Developing programs with dynamic memory and hashing. Requirements: This assignment involves the development of a database for a cinema. The program is designed to look up past movie releases, determining when the film was released, the rating it received from the Classification Board and its running time. To accelerate the lookup, a hash table will be used, with two possible hash functions. The program will report how efficiently the table is operating. Storage will be dynamic, enabling the space used by the program to be adjusted to suit the datafile size. The program must clean up after memory usage. During development, the program may ignore the dynamic nature until the program is working. As an addendum, the assignment also involves the use of compiler directives and makefiles. Those students who use a platform other than Linux/Unix will be required to ensure that their programs comply with the specifications below. The program is to be implemented in three files: ass3.cpp contains the simplest form of main function, hash.h contains the function prototypes of the publicly accessible functions, where the implementations of these functions will be placed in the file hash.cpp. The first two files should not be altered, although you may write your own driver programs to test your functions during development. The third file contains the stubs of the four public functions, plus a sample struct for holding the records, usable until they are changed for dynamic memory.

  • The Tim Ferriss Show Transcripts Episode 98: Robert Rodriguez Show Notes and Links at Tim.Blog/Podcast
The Tim Ferriss Show Transcripts Episode 98: Robert Rodriguez Show notes and links at tim.blog/podcast Tim Ferriss: Hello, ladies and germs, puppies and kittens. Meow. This is Tim Ferriss and welcome to another episode of the Tim Ferriss Show, where it is my job to deconstruct world class performers, to teas out the routines, the habits, the books, the influences, everything that you can use, that you can replicated from their best practices. And this episode is a real treat. If you loved the Arnold Schwarzenegger or Jon Favreau or Matt Mullenweg episodes, for instance, you are going to love this one. We have a film director, screen writer, producer, cinematographer, editor, and musician. His name is Robert Rodriguez. His story is so good. While he was a student at University of Texas at Austin, he wrote the script to his first feature film when he was sequestered in a drug research facility as a paid subject in a clinical experiment. So he sold his body for science so that he could make art. And that paycheck covered the cost of shooting his film. Now, what film was that? The film was Element Mariachi, which went on to win the coveted Audience Award at Sundance Film Festival and became the lowest budget movie ever released by a major studio. He went on then, of course, to write and produce a lot, and direct and edit and so on, a lot of films. He’s really a jack of all trades, master of many because he’s had to operate with such low budgets and be so resourceful.

/ VOL. XXV. NO. 90 The ObserverFRIDAY, FEBRUARY 19,1993 THE INDEPENDENT NEWSPAPER SERVING NOTRE DAME AND SAINT MARY'S Ferry sinks, at least 1 ,000 dead PETIT GOAVE, Haiti (AP} - A packed ferry carrying up to 1,500 people .sank in stormy seas off Haiti, and only 285 people were known to have survived, the Red Cross said Thursday. Survivors told how they clung to floating objects, in one case a bag of charcoal, to stay alive. "The sea was full of people," said one survivor, 29-year-old Madeleine Julien, from her hospital bed in this coastal town. "I kept bumping into drowned people." The ferry Neptune went down late Tuesday off Petit Goave, 60 miles west of the capital. But communications are so crude outside the capital it took a group of about 60 survivors a day to first report the accident. U.S. aircraft and vessels dispatched Thursday to help in search-and-rescue efforts reported "lots of debris and lots of bodies," said Coast Guard spokesman, Cmdr. Larry Mizell, liaison in Port-au Prince. The Coast Guard said it had found more than 100 bodies floating off Petit Goave. Bodies were earlier reported washing up on the beaches of Miragoane, 18 miles to the west of Petit Goave. Mizell said there was "no correlation between this and the boat people," referring to the tens of thousands of Haitians who have fled their homeland by sea since the army ousted elected President Jean-Bertrand Aristide in 1991. One survivor, Benjamin Sinclair, told the Photo Courtesy ot 1:!111 Mowle private Radio Metropole that as many as Irish Impact 1,500 people were aboard the triple-decker Bill Mowle, the Managing Editor/Photo Editor of the Dome, kicked off a poster benefit for South Bend's Center for the Homeless.
