JEAN-VALJEAN – chain gang costume. Long coat Smart Trousers, shirt, cravat and tailcoat Long overcoat French army coat

JAVERT – French inspectors uniform Students costume long coat must be dull colour

FANTINE – Dress fitting of the time with apron. Same dress but add shawl. Long petticoat and chemise or underdress has to look the opposite of the prostitutes.

YOUNG COSETTE – dress or skirt and top. Must be dull colours and be dirty and torn.

MADAME THENARDIER – Dress and wedding outfit.

THENARDIER – see pictures. Wedding outfit see pictures under Madame Thenardier for wedding outfit

YOUNG EPONINE – Blue dress and hat

GAVROCHE – trousers, shirt, waistcoat, jacket and flat cap must be dull colours and look dirty and worn.

EPONINE – Long skirt, chemise, belt and shawl Trousers, chemise, long coat and flat cap

ENJOLRAS – Smart trousers, shirt, cravat and tailcoat Red waistcoat with gold brocade (see picture)

MARIUS – Smart trousers, shirt, cravat and tailcoat not black Black trousers and tailcoat, white shirt and cravat

COSETTE – Long dress with coat and a cat Second dress for a change Wedding dress.

CHAIN GANG/CONVICT 1,2,3,4,5 – Baggy shirts and lose fitting trousers. Should be torn and dirty.

FARMER – See normal chorus costume. Add a jacket and hat fitting for a farmer. LABORER – See normal chorus costume. BISHOP – Bishops cassock

CONSTABLE 1+2 – Constables uniform. NORMAL CHORUS – Women: in long skirts/dresses with shirts/blouses. Must be bland colours and look worn should not look brand new. Can add shawls and hats but must look old and worn Men: Trousers and shirts. Again can add jackets and flat caps. Must be bland colours and look worn.

FOREMAN – Smart trousers, white shirt, cravat and waistcoat and potentially a long coat.

WOKRERS – remain in chorus costume but put aprons on and potentially mop hats.

SAILORS – French sailors uniform

PROSTITUTES – Undergarments fitting of the time. Long petticoats, chemise tops, belts round waist. Can have bright colours on it but no block colours.

OLD WOMAN – Normal chorus costume but add a shawl.

PIMP – Smart trousers and shirt but that look worn. Preferably a tailcoat that looks worn and a top hat

BAMATABOIS – French gentry, smart trousers, shirt with cravat. Waistcoat and tailcoat. Top hat and cane

ONLOOKER 1,2,3,4 – Normal Chorus costume. FAUCHELEVANT – Normal chorus costume.

STUDENTS – Smart trousers, shirts, cravat, waistcoat. Some should be wearing a tailcoat.

A reminder that we are not asking for the costumes to be identical to the photos provided they are there to give you inspiration for your child’s costume.

We realise that some of the costumes for the principals are very specific and understand that we may need to help source these.

If you find costumes that you know other people need to source please share on the Facebook page, if we work as a group it will be easier for sourcing costumes.
