Queenscliffe (B) The Borough of Queenscliffe is the smallest municipality, with a population of just over 3,000 and an area of 9 square kilometres. Queenscliffe is located at the tip of the Bellarine Peninsula, about 105 km south-west of Melbourne and 35 km east of Geelong. The population of Queenscliffe has declined slightly since 2002, and projected per annum growth to 2022 is considerably lower than average. Residents aged 65 plus are overrepresented in the population with over 32% in this age group and only about 22% are aged under 25. There is a low level of cultural diversity, with the second lowest rate of low English proficiency of all LGAs. Queenscliffe has the lowest rates of drug offences and family violence incidents of all LGAs. There are very few social housing dwellings, rental affordability is low, and the median house price is one of the highest in the state. However, rates of mortgage and rental stress are below average. The number of passenger vehicles per 1,000 population is the highest in the state. Queenscliffe performs well on most health indicators. Rates of obesity are below average, a relatively high percentage of the population meet physical activity guidelines, and a low percentage indicate that they have fair or poor health. Bowel cancer screening rates are the highest of all LGAs. Cancer rates are higher than average, and the percentage of unintentional injuries due to falls is the highest in the state. Queenscliff has the fewest high care aged care places per 1,000 eligible population of all the LGAs, and the rate of HACC clients aged 70 plus is well above average. The rate of inpatient separations is also the highest, and there are more GPs per 1,000 population than any other LGA, although the rate of GP presentations is around average.
