ICOM GLASS MEETING 2013 BRATISLAVA ––– LEDNICKÉ ROVNÉ, SLOVAKIA OCTOBER 2828----31,31, 2013 Preliminary program October 27 - 28 Arrive Bratislava By plane, train or bus to Vienna or Bratislava Recommendation: Vienna is only 60km from Bratislava and there is good bus connection I also suggest for members from overseas to come some days earlier or stay longer, Bratislava is located only 1hour ride to Vienna, 2,5 hours to Budapest, 4 hours to Prague or Cracow Monday ––– Thursday, October 28 ––– 31 Day 1 9:00 am Registration and welcome reception Meeting at the Bratislava City Gallery (Galéria mesta Bratislavy, www.gmb.sk , Mirbach Palace, Františkánske námestie 11) Welcome coffee, round tables concerning the topics of the meeting: Topics: --- What is the future for contemporary studio glass Luisa Martínez García: Spanish studio glass. Past, present and future Jan Kock: The Danish Glass World of today and maybe also in the future Amy McHugh: The Crystal Gardens of Charles Lin Tissot - New Discoveries in Glass (presentation of Slovak archeologists etc…) Open for call papers, deadline: September 1 ([email protected]) 1 – 2:30 pm Lunch by own 2:30 Presentation of actual glass exhibitions, glass collections in Slovakia (Slovak national gallery, Municipal museum, Slovak National Museum etc. open for all members to participate) 4-5 pm private viewing of the exhibition in the Bratislava City Gallery – Jan Zoričák (Zoricak) Place: Mirbach Palace, Františkánske námestie 11 5 pm Opening ceremony of the exhibition Zora Palová Place: Pálffy Palace, Panská 19 Reception by Icom Slovakia Day 2 8:00 am Visit of glass studio of Palo Macho, Bratislava, coffee break Tour to Lednické Rovné by bus, 160 km from Bratislava Private visit of the Glass museum Visit to the glass factory RONA and Museum RONA Lunch reception by RONA Recommendation: visit to the glass shop of RONA factory Day 3 9:00 am Visit to Gallery NOVA, private glass gallery 11:00 am Visit to the studios of Slovak glass artist Oliver Leššo, Bratislava 1 pm Lunch by own 2:30 pm Visit of the studio of Lukáš Mjartan and Štepán Pala, Bratislava Devín 4 pm Visit to the studios of Slovak glass artists Pavol Hlôška and Ašot Haas, Bratislava 5 pm Reception by Gallery NOVA Day 4 9:00 am Visit to the Glass Studio, Academy of Fine Arts and Design Presentation of Slovak glass education by Patrik Illo, Bratislava 1 pm lunch by own 2 pm ICOM Glass board meeting 6 pm Reception by ICOM Glass NOTENOTE: Transportation between hotel and museums is not provided. But in Bratislava is mostly everything in walking distance. Registration for the conference includes transportation from Bratislava to Lednicke Rovne and back, coffee breaks and several lunches.
