August 15, 2005 March 8, 2021 MUMFORD HOME BULLETIN ITBS & Cognitive Ability Testing: ITBS testing will continue this week. These tests help us determine your child’s progress from year to year and are also used as one of the measures to determine if your child is prepared to be promoted. They are VERY important tests and your child should get plenty of rest the night before the test and get a good breakfast. K – 2nd Grade: In-School Learners will take their Cognitive Abilities test Monday – Friday (March 8 - 12). 3-8th Grade: Will test on both ITBS and Cognitive Abilities Tuesday & Wednesday, March 9 & 10th. This testing will be for both At-Home Learners and In-School Learners. At-Home Learners need to be at school by 7:45. Softball/Baseball: Come out and support our girls’ softball and our boys’ baseball teams. These are the upcoming games, please note dates and times of games are subject to change after the printing of this bulletin. For games occurring over spring break check out the Mumford Athletics Facebook page. We wish them luck at their performance of: “Antigone”. Their performance is open to the public and they are scheduled to take the stage around 4:30. If they place in the top 3 plays they will advance to Bi-District contest. Cheer Mascot Tryouts: Cheer tryouts will be on Thursday, March 11, cheer tryouts will start at 3:30. These are closed tryouts and only cheer candidates, judges, administration, Mrs. King and senior cheerleaders helping with tryouts are allowed to be in the tryout room. The last optional practice day will be Wednesday, March 10, JH will be from 3:30 – 4:30 and HS will be from 4:30 – 5:30. Hat Day: Our Jr Class will be having a Hat Day this Friday, March 12th. Bring a $1 and wear your favorite hat or cap all day. Remember no nylon du-rags allowed. Mumford Tennis Shirts on Sale: We are selling Mumford Tennis Shirts available to the public, till Friday, March 12. Prices vary depending on the shirt ordered. Please have money and order forms turned in by Friday. Spring Break: We will be off for Spring Break next week: March 15 - 19th. We hope you have a GREAT break and we’ll see you all back when school resumes on Monday, March 22nd. Senior Scholarships: Don’t forget about scholarships available for seniors. They are in the HS hallway, for student’s convenience to pick up and fill out. Applications and information can also be found online at: https://bit.ly/3dAuS7T . These forms can be printed and filled out by hand OR can be filled online with a PDF application like Adobe Reader. Please be sure to DOWNLOAD and fill the forms if you want to complete as a fillable PDF. Please check it out, some deadlines are FAST approaching! 2020-21 Yearbooks: Yearbooks are on sale NOW for a discounted price of $40 for the next 2 weeks! Discounted prices are good till Friday, March 12, AFTER that they will be $50 per book. Orders can also be placed on-line at www.yearbookforever.com, just type in Mumford ISD. Using the online system, you can order extras such as personalized names imprinted on the book, book covers, etc. Online orders will have an additional $1 cost for processing fees. All students in grades Pre-Kinder - 12th grades are featured in the yearbook on their class page, as well as other pages throughout the book! Business Ads/Page Sponsorship & Student Messages: If you have a business and would like to purchase a business ad to have in the yearbook please contact Ms. Hudson for pricing and sizes. Also, on the order form you will find information about purchasing space for Student messages and page sponsorships! Student messages can be purchased for any student and is a GREAT way to show support for your child, there are multiple sizes and prices. Band Solo Contest Results: Our HS band students competed in the UIL Solo Contest here at Mumford on Wednesday, March 3. Our students did fantastic, earning thirteen 1st Division ratings, which is the highest a student can achieve. Congratulations to all students participating! Receiving 2nd Division were: Christopher Torres and Jamillie Condado. Receiving 1st Division were: Cesar Lopez, Paul Martinez, Jacob Pemberton, Samuel DeWett, Colin Perkins, Nila Moutray, Caitlyn Amos, Quinn Eneks, Elijah Mendoza, Michael Campos, Emma Hoose, Ti’Ana Sims, and Raul Lopez. Basketball Honors: Our basketball team All District Honors are in, congratulations to the following students: Co- Offensive Players of the Year: LeAnthony Dykes & Ruben Sustaita, Co-Newcomer of the Year: Peyton Woods, 1st Team All District: Desmond Gamble & Henry Jones III, 2nd Team All District: Bryson Rodriguez, Honorable Mention: Lorenzo Puente, and All Academic was: Bryson Rodriguez and Henry Jones III. Congratulations to these boys! Masks Still Required: While Governor Abbot lifted the order that required masks to be worn in public facilities, schools follow the directives of TEA and the Commissioner of Education. In the updated guidance provided for schools, masks are still to be worn by all students, staff and visitors in schools. Also, all current safety protocols are to continue to be in place. Mumford ISD, like most all area schools, will continue to keep the safety of our staff and students as our top priority and require all staff, students and visitors to wear a mask while on school buses and in campus facilities. If any changes are made to the school policy regarding this, we will let you know. Estas pruebas nos ayudan a determinar el progreso de su niño de un año a otro y también se utilizan como una de las medidas para determinar si su hijo está preparado para ser promovido. Son pruebas MUY importantes y su niño debe descansar lo suficiente la noche anterior y comer un buen desayuno. Grados K-2: Estudiantes tomarán su prueba de habilidades cognitivas de lunes a viernes (8 al 12 de marzo). Grados 3-8: Tomaran el ITBS y de Habilidades Cognitivas el martes y miércoles, 9 y 10 de marzo. Esta prueba será para estudiantes en casa y estudiantes en la escuela. Los estudiantes en casa deben estar en la escuela a las 7:45. Softbol/Béisbol: Venga y apoye los equipos de softbol de nuestras niñas y de béisbol de nuestros niños.     LOU BATSON PRESNAL March 19, 1939 - May 25, 2017 Lou Batson Presnal, 78, of Bryan, Texas passed away on May 25, 2017. Her family will receive friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 2, at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Bryan. Lou was born on March 19, 1939, in Madisonville, Texas, and grew up in Normangee with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was the daughter of Joe and Maurene (Greer) Batson. She was an accomplished pianist and singer, and lettered three years in volleyball, basketball, and cheerleading. Lou was the valedictorian of Normangee High School in 1957. Lou is lovingly remembered by her husband of 60 years, Henry L. (Sonny) Presnal. Sonny was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army, and they were married on June 1, 1957. They were stationed in Germany from 1960-1963 where Sonny served as an Army Aviator. Lou loved being an Army wife. After Sonny's military service, they returned to Texas, Sonny attended veterinary school, and they raised their family in Bryan. Their time overseas sparked a lifetime interest in travel, and Lou and Sonny traveled to England, Egypt, Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland, Turkey, Greece, Sweden, Denmark, Croatia, Estonia, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Monaco, Russia, and Israel, and all over the United States. She especially loved going to Las Vegas. Lou was passionate about fashion, inspired by a favorite aunt. She loved music, was a beautiful singer, and encouraged her children to study music.

    MESSAGE f r o m t h e FOUNDER the Terry Foundation approaches its twenty-fifth JL JL anniversary next year, a modest beginning in 1986 has evolved into the states largest private source of scholarship funding for eight Texas public universities. After its first seventeen years at the University of Texas at Austin and Texas A&M University, the Foundation expanded in 2004 to include Scholars at the University of Houston and at Texas State University-San Marcos. Later in 2006, the program expanded again to the University of Texas at San Antonio and the University of Texas at Dallas, and again in the fall of 2010 to the University of North Texas in Denton. In 2010, the Board of Directors approved additional growth for the Terry Foundation Scholarship Program to Texas Tech University in Lubbock. The first Scholars for Texas Tech were selected at interviews in April 2011 and will begin college in the fall of 2011. The Foundation is pleased to welcome this outstanding institution to the Terry program. Howard L. Terry This past April, the Foundation selected 200 new 2011 Scholars. This will bring the total number of active Terry Scholars at all eight universities to 698. The spring of 2011 also brought graduation to 133 Terry Scholars who join a growing body of Scholar Alumni that now numbers over 1,600. Our growing family of graduates are serving their communities in virtually every occupation and field of service imaginable. We greatly appreciate the many letters we get from our alumni around the world. In October of 2010, the Foundation was honored by the National Association of Scholarship Providers at its annual conference in Denver by being selected as the National Scholarship Provider of the Year.

    1 The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) developed a Student-Athlete Oath for the 2009-2010 academic and athletic year. The oath outlines the expectations accepted by all UMHB Student-Athletes and also details the pride those student- athletes feel to be a part of Cru Athletics. Student-athletes will begin using the oath for the fi rst time in the fall of 2009 and it will become a prominent and permanent part of the UMHB Student-Athlete experience. After its first seventeen years at the University of Texas at Austin and Texas A&M University, the Foundation expanded in 2004 to include Scholars at the University of Houston and at Texas State University-San Marcos. In 2005, the Board of Directors approved additional growth for the Terry Foundation Scholarship Program to the University of Texas at San Antonio and the University of Texas at Dallas. The first Scholars for UT-Dallas and UT-San Antonio were selected at interviews in April, 2006. These Scholars completed their first year of college in the spring of 2007. In April, the Foundation selected a total of 197 new 2007 Scholars, a record high.
