Melissa Mojica was promoted to Head Coach of the UMHB softball team on June 1, 2020 after spending five years as the assistant coach to Larry Hennig. Mojica joined the Cru as as- sistant coach in July of 2015 after spending the previous nine seasons as an assistant softball coach at West High School. The Lady Trojans won six district championships and appeared in four state tournaments during her tenure. Mojica also coached and during her time at West. UMHB soft- ball recorded a 115-70 record during her tenure as an assis- tant and the Cru advanced to four ASC Championship Tour- naments. UMHB finished the 2020 season ranked #10 in the country in the NFCA Top 25 Coaches’ Poll.

Mojica is a 2005 graduate of Baylor University and she was a two-year letter winner and start- er for the Baylor softball team. She played for two NCAA Tournament qualifiers with the Bears and her game-winning double against North Carolina as a junior gave Baylor the first NCAA postseason victory in the history of the Bears softball program. Mojica was also an All-Ameri- can softball player at Temple College. She played for two Texas Junior College Northern Con- ference Champions under current UMHB Head Coach Larry Hennig with the Leopards.

Mojica and her husband, David, were married in 2019, and the couple has four daughters, Savannah, Avery, Tagen and Mack. She is a native of West.

Leah Guest is starting her first year as assistant coach for the UMHB softball program. Guest spent the 2020 season as a vol- unteer assistant coach at Baylor University before returning to her alma mater.

Guest was a four-year starter at third base for the Cru. She was a two-time NFCA All-American, three-time all-region selection and four-time All-American Southwest Conference honoree. Guest is the all-time UMHB record holder in home runs (34), RBI (159), runs (142), hits (217), total bases (381) and slug percent- age (.726).

She was a state champion and all-state softball player at Craw- ford High School, where she also participated in volleyball, basketball and track. Guest spent the 2018 season as an assistant softball coach at the University of Texas at Tyler before com- ing back to UMHB to serve as a volunteer assistant coach during the 2019 season. Leah and her husband, Taylor, were married in December of 2020.

Kenzie is a marketing and finance major at UMHB. She participated in cheerlead- ing, softball and volleyball at Livingston High School. Kenzie was an honorable mention all-district selection and recipient of the All-American Lion Heart award. She was also a four-year academic all-district selection in softball and two-year se- lection in both volleyball and cheerleading. Kenzie was also a member of Honors society, American Sign Language Club and Lions for Christ. She opened her col- legiate career at Murray State College. Kenzie is the daughter of Mark and Jenny Bush.

Lexi was also a four-time all-district volleyball player, Defensive Player of the Year, volleyball all-state honoree and all-district runner. Tyeann is a biology major at UMHB and hopes to work in pathology. She partici- pated in basketball, softball, track and volleyball at Robinson High School, where she earned 11 varsity letters. Tyeann was a four-time all-district selection, four-time academic all-district selection and also earned academic all-state. She was also an NHS officer, Link leader and FCA leader. Tyeann is the daughter of Jesse and Sondra Johnson.

Taylor earned the Big Bat award and was an academic all-district selection. She also participated in Anchored and HOSA. Taylor is the daughter of Deborah Holman.

# 27 KENNEDY KALKA FRESHMAN, INFIELD, R/R, AXTELL, TEXAS Kennedy is an international business major at UMHB. She participated in volley- ball, softball, track and at Axtell HIgh School. Kennedy’s softball accolades include: two-time Defensive MVP, Utility Player of the Year, four-time all-district se- lection and four-time academic all-district selection. Kennedy was also a four-time all-district selection in volleyball and three-time area qualifier in track. She also earned all-academic honors in volleyball, track and tennis. Kennedy was a member of Pals, UIL and National Honor Society. She is the daughter of Tommy and Elisa- beth Kalka.

#26 CAMDYN MCEOWEN FRESHMAN, OUTFIELD, L/R, BELTON, TEXAS Camdyn is studying graphic design at UMHB. She played softball at Belton High School. Camdyn was a state-champion pole vaulter and helped her softball team to a Runners-Up finish. She is the daughter of Ginger McEowen.

Elisabeth was a three-time all-district selection, three-time Super Centex selection and earned her team’s Offensive Player of hte Year award. Elisabeth was also a three-time academic all-district selection. She par- ticipated in FCA, CIA, Varsity Choir, and HOT Fair and Rodeo Sweethearts. Elisabeth is the daughter of Robert and Clare Paul.

Tatum played one year of collegiate softball at Texas Woman’s University and is the daughter of Ron and Tonya Stover.

# 54 BAILEY WAGNER junior, INFIELD, R,R, brock, TEXAS Bailey is studying physical therapy at UMHB. She played and softball at Brock High School. Bailey helped her sofball team to three state semi-finalist finishes. She was an all-state tournament, all-district, all-Parker county and all-state honoree in softball. Bailey was also a three-time individual district champion in golf. She was also a three-time state qualifier, State Medalist in 2018, all-state and all-region selection. Academically, Bailey was a two-time all-state and four-time all-district winner. She also participated in National Honor Society, Future Farmers of Ameri- ca, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Athletic Training. Bailey is the daughter of Heath and Holly Wagner.

DR. RANDY O’REAR, UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT

Randy O’Rear became the 22nd president of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor when he assumed the office on June 1, 2009. O’Rear was named President and CEO of the university in a unanimous decision by the school’s Board of Trustees in September 2008. Dr. O’Rear is the first of president of UMHB who is also an alumnus of the university. He graduated from UMHB with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1988 and earned an MBA from UMHB in 1997. O’Rear earned a doctoral degree in Higher Education from Baylor University in 2004. O’Rear has served at UMHB since 1988, most recently as executive vice president and chief operating officer. For more than 18 years, O’Rear has been actively involved in fund- raising for the university. Under his leadership, gifts and grants dramatically increased, numerous endowed scholarships were established and major capital projects were completed, including the construc- tion of the Parker Academic Center, the Mayborn Campus Center, the Meyer Christian Studies Center and the Crusader Stadium Complex. O’Rear has also strong ties to the UMHB athletic department. He was also a two-year letterman for the UMHB program as a right-handed pitcher. O’Rear held the school record for wins in a season for five years before that mark was broken in 1992. He also spent one year as a student assistant coach and two years as a full-time assis- tant coach for the Cru baseball team. Originally from Waco, O’Rear is a graduate of Robinson High School. He and his wife, Julie, have three children, Ryan, Taylor and Reed. Taylor and her husband, John, a former UMHB soccer standout, have two sons. Reed is married to former UMHB basketball player Jesslyn Poole. The O’Rears live in Belton and are members of First Baptist Church, Belton.

RANDY MANN, VICE PRESIDENT FOR ATHLETICS

Randy Mann was promoted to Vice President for Athletics in May of 2012 after serving as full-time Associate Athletic Director for four years. He spent the previous eight years serving as head men’s golf coach and associate AD. Coach Mann guided the Cru to the American Southwest Conference championship in 2008 and closed out his coaching career by guiding the Cru to the first NCAA Division III National Tournament berth in the program’s history. Mann also led the Cru to ASC championships in 2005 and 2001. The first conference championship was the first conference title in the history of the UMHB men’s golf program. The Crusaders never finished lower than fourth in the ASC Tournament during Mann’s tenure in Belton. The Crusaders also narrowly missed earning the first NCAA Division III National Championship berth in the program’s history in the spring of 2004, although Dillon Gooch qualified as an individual to become the first UMHB men’s golfer to compete in the NCAA Division III National Tournament.

Coach Mann came to UMHB from Temple High School, where he spent the seven years as head coach of the boys and girls golf teams. Coach Mann spent a total of 19 years teaching and coaching in the Temple Independent School District. He took the Temple boys golf team to 4 district titles and 2 district runner-ups finishes in his 7 years as coach. In that same time, Coach Mann took the girls team to 3 district titles and 3 district runner-up finishes. The teams only missed the regional tournament once each during Coach Mann’s tenure.

Randy Mann is a 1980 graduate of Tarleton State University in Stephenville, and he received his master’s degree from Tarleton in 1998. He and his wife, Caroline, have three sons, Mitchell, Michael, and Marshall, and one grand- son, Maverick.

ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor was chartered by the Republic of Texas in 1845, making UMHB the oldest institution of higher learning offering continuous education in the state.
