After its first seventeen years at the University of Texas at Austin and Texas A&M University, the Foundation expanded in 2004 to include Scholars at the University of Houston and at Texas State University-San Marcos. In 2005, the Board of Directors approved additional growth for the Terry Foundation Scholarship Program to the University of Texas at San Antonio and the University of Texas at Dallas. The first Scholars for UT-Dallas and UT-San Antonio were selected at interviews in April, 2006. These Scholars completed their first year of college in the spring of 2007. In April, the Foundation selected a total of 197 new 2007 Scholars, a record high. We are proud of the Scholars and Scholar Alumni who H oward L. Terry joined our Board of Directors in selecting the new class, which combined with our existing Scholars, will bring the total number of active Terry Scholars at all six universities to more than six hundred fifty students. The spring of 2007 also brought graduation to 128 Terry Scholars who join a growing body of Scholar Alumni that now numbers over 1,000. In October, the Foundation Board of Directors voted to expand its number. As a result, two additional Scholar Alumni have been added to the Board. Were pleased to welcome Gayle Stinson (UT-Austin Scholar class of 1987) and Jeffrey Stichler (Texas A&M Scholar class of 1990) to membership on the Foundation Board. On behalf of the Board of Directors and the Foundation staff, we would also like to thank the staffs at the University of Texas at Dallas, the University of Texas at San Antonio, Texas State University-San Marcos, the University of Houston, Texas A&M University, and the University of Texas at Austin, for their invaluable assistance during our annual interview process in Austin, Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio. Terry he Terry Foundations goal is to improve and develop the T State of Texas by assisting Texas students to attend the state’s finest public universities. The Foundation hopes that these students will have a significant impact on the future leadership of the state and nation. To achieve this goal, the Foundation awards full scholarships to students who meet the high standards set by the Founders. What began in 1986 as a small scholarship program is now the state’s largest private source of scholarships for the University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University, the University of Houston, Texas State University-San Marcos, the University of Texas at San Antonio, and the University of Texas at Dallas, with over 650 Terry Scholars enrolled.
