HALTON SCHOOL GAMES NEWS ‘Celebrating Competitive School Sport throughout Halton’ AUTUMN TERM 2014 Once again the Autumn term has provided a great warm up for the year ahead. The Halton School Games Competition calendar is full of opportunities for all pupils to experience competing for their school locally, and for those successful school teams to progress and represent Halton at Merseyside (Level 3) School Games finals later in the year. The first year of the Governments Primary PE and School Sport funding allocated to every Primary school national has had a positive impact with schools engaging in School Games initiatives. There is evidence from schools recently Ofsted inspected that engaging in the School Games really does demonstrate how a school is achieving the aims and objectives set out by Ofsted’s PE and School Sport framework. The positive news is that the current Government has announced they will commit further funding for Primary PE and Sport until 2020. I would like to THANK all schools and key partners involved in ensuring the young people of Halton continue to develop and succeed through the element of sport. This newsletter celebrates a snap shot of inter school competitions, leadership and PE and School Sport developments which have taken place this Autumn Term.
