An Overview

Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur (DNLU, hereafter) was established by the Madhya Pradesh Dharmashastra National Law University Act, 24 of 2018. The University was unveiled by Hon'ble Chief Justice of , Hon'ble Shri Justice Dipak Misra, on 30th June 2018 in the august presence of Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, Hon'ble Union Minister of Law and Justice, Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan, C.M. of M.P. Hon'ble Shri Justice Hemant Gupta, Hon'ble Chief Justice of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh, Hon'ble Shri Justice Rajendra Menon, Prof. (Dr.) V. Nagaraj Hon'ble Chief Justice of the High Court of Judicature at , Hon'ble Shri Vice Chancellor Justice R.S. Jha, Hon'ble Judge-in-Charge Judicial Education, M.P. and other dignitaries of legal fraternity across India.

Government has allotted 125 acres of land to the University in the lush green and pleasant surrounding at village Pipariya adjacent to the to establish a state of the art infrastructure, equipped with all modern amenities as a green and clean campus, technically equipped classroom, e-library, language lab, auditorium, seminar hall, moot court, theatre and music hall, parks, fully furnished air- Shri Dinesh Prasad Mishra conditioned hostel, cafeteria, gymnasium, mess, etc. Registrar (In-Charge)

Vision: The University has the vision to be the center of excellence in legal education and research by disseminating quality education and training; nurturing vibrant legal culture through judicious practices and ethically responsible pursuits.

Mission: The mission of the University is clearly reflected in its motto ^^lR;aon] /keZapj**, which means “speak the truth and conduct in accordance with Dharma” and it is committed to imbibe the same in the personality and conduct of learners.

Horizontal Reservation 1. 30% seats are horizontally reserved for women candidates. 2. 5% seats are horizontally reserved for especially abled persons (Persons with Disability). 3. 5% seats are horizontally reserved for the candidates of M. P. domicile under the category son/ grandson / daughter / granddaughter of Freedom Fighter, and wards of War Martyr of Defense Personnel and permanently Disabled Personnel’s of the Indian forces/dependent children of the Ex-Servicemen of CRPF/. 4. 02 Supernumerary Seats for residents of and Kashmir.

Seat Conversion If the seats of reserved category lie vacant due to non-availability of suitable candidates/students, then it shall be filled up from candidates/students from unreserved category

ON CAMPUS FACILITIES 1. Wi-Fi enabled Campus

The academic block and hostels has a seamless Wi-Fi network with 30mb/ps leased line to access internet in academic block as well as in hostels.

2. Library

Library, the core of any academic institution; is a center of acquiring, processing, preserving, disseminating, facilitating information and empowering both teaching and learning. DNLU library is not only the repository of knowledge but also the dispenser of the knowledge and believes in the words of American writer, William Styron that a great book should leave you with many experiences, and slightly exhausted at the end. You live several lives while reading.

The Dharmashastra National Law University library is in its infancy. It has a wide range of academic resources such as books, periodicals, online periodicals, databases, back volumes, CDs/DVDs, etc. It has the collection of around 800 titles and many of the reputed journals. The reference section has an appreciable collection of material indices, reference books, encyclopaedias, dictionaries, law commission reports and legal lexicons. The library offers following services: circulation, reference, inter library loan, bibliographic, press clippings, photocopying and exchange of publications. Access to library is available on liberal terms. 3. E-Library

DNLU has established E-library to enable e-learning with web resources and to access classic Law Books, Case Law Reports, Journals and to utilize online softwares of national and international repute and other resource material for legal education and research. It has access of more than two hundred reputed e-journals of law and allied areas. The University has the subscription of the reputed International online databases like LexisNexis Online, Supreme Court Cases with Jstor, Westlaw, EPW, etc. Which contain enormous resources like International Case Reporters, Supreme Court and Hight courts cases, All Tribunals, Privy Council, Statutes, and Articles from Law Reviews, constituting an invaluable resource to a law school student.

4. Hostel

It is for the first time when most of the students are away from the care and comfort of their homes. Therefore, special attention and care is given to make their stay secure and comfortable. Separate hostels equipped with hygienic and green ambiance are available for boys and girls.

5. Girls' Hostel: Bhatnagar Bhawan

The University provides a separate hostel for girls having twin sharing rooms. The hostel will be Wi-Fi enabled. A well equipped gymnasium shall also be established shortly.

6. Boys' Hostel: Raman Bhawan

The University provides a separate hostel for boys having twin sharing spacious rooms. The hostel and academic block will be Wi-Fi enabled. A well-equipped gymnasium shall also be established shortly.

7. Cafeteria

Cafeteria, a perfect chill-out zone is located within the academic block catering meals, snacks, beverages, mineral water, etc. for students, faculty and visitors. The cleanliness and hygiene of the cafeteria is monitored by the authorities of the university.

8. Medical Facilities

To protect students from any physical, social or psychological threat, University has made proper arrangement within the campus. To deal with physical threats, an in-house health centre is established to provide first aids and primary treatment. In case of further requirement, students as well as employee of the University can approach to the Jabalpur Hospital. The University has tied-up for health services with Jabalpur Hospital. It is a renowned hospital of Jabalpur city and capable of providing best services. University keeps eyes on students' social and psychological health as anxiety, stress, fear of change, homesickness and academic worries and has engaged services of a student counsellor.

CENTRES OF EXCELLENCE The University has established focussed research centres as a formally structured unit within the university with the purpose of advancing scholarly activity primarily through collaborative research, research training, research dissemination and creative endeavours.
