400 ChurchMain Street Huntington, Newof York(631)-385-3311 St. Patrick www.stpathuntington.org FROM OUR PASTOR, MSGR CAMP

Dear Parishioners,

The season of is upon us and it seems we have picked up where we had left off. By that I mean, it is now coming up to year when the world shuttered down. It was the start of Lent then as well. Lent is about rebirth I am hoping and praying that this year, the process of re-opening will occur.

In the Book of Genesis, we see the promise of God through the wonderful reality of Creation. Genesis recounts our creation, our fall and our re-creation. After the great flood the process of re-creation begins, which will lead us to the start of salvation history, when God reveals Himself to . In the story of the Great Flood, saved people from certain death. Christ, who is our ark, protects us from by taking it upon Himself. As we begin the Lenten journey, we remind ourselves it is a time to return to the Gospel, reject sin and recommit ourselves to our Baptismal commitment. In , God has made a covenant with us. He never forgets the promise He has made to us. God is always faithful to us, even when we turn away and return back to Him, he is always waiting for us.

Please remember Lent is more than just not eating meat on Friday. It is about our willingness to confront the sinfulness of our lives by utilizing a penance to rid ourselves of what has kept us from God.

This will be Fr. Jeremias’ last weekend with us for this year, as he will returning home to India at the end of the week. This year was a shortened trip due to the Pandemic, but we are always so grateful for the time that he comes and spends with us. I would like to thank him for all of his continued support and wish him well until his return with us next January.

I am happy to welcome Fr. Carlos Martins to St. Patrick’s this year to hold our Lenten Mission. Fr. Martins will be joining us Sunday, February 21st – Tuesday, February 23rd at 7:00p.m. to facilitate our Lenten Mission which will focus on, “Jesus’ Lenten Conversations.” Throughout this Mission Fr. Martins will be focusing on three conversations that Jesus had with, Pontius Pilate, Peter the Apostle and Satan. I ask that you please join us and allow Jesus to introduce Himself to you during this Lenten season. Adoration and Confession will also be held after the Mission on Monday and Tuesday at 8:00 p.m.

Please see the bulletin for the many Lenten offerings we have scheduled.

Have a good week.

Lenten Parish Mission at Saint Patrick’s with Fr. Carlos Martins Jesus’ Lenten Conversations … Sunday, February 21 to Tuesday, February 23rd at 7:00pm

At the center of our faith stands Jesus Christ. Each of us has had our encounters with Him, encounters that have led us to regard Him in the way we do. But how often do we let Him redefine and reshape that relationship so that it may refresh us anew?

In this parish mission, I propose that we allow Jesus to do this very thing. Our starting point will be the conversations Jesus had with three persons: Pontius Pilate, Peter the Apostle, and Satan. I call these “Jesus’ Lenten conversations” since they are occasions where He reveals His identity so profoundly that one cannot help but be transformed by them.

Come to this mission and allow Jesus to introduce Himself to you anew.

Adoration and Confession on Monday and Tuesday immediately following the mission from 8:00pm-9:00pm

For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.
