Day 3 Girona - Platja d'Aro - Palamos (49kms easy level) We continue our route along the old railroad 'carrilet' until we reach Platja d'Aro on the Costa Brava ending up in the beautiful town of Palamos. Day 4 Palamos to Empuries (46kms easy level) Empuries is one of the unique scenes of Spain's history. Elements per a la seva història Per MARIÀ BAIG I ALEU* ARXIUS Annals de l’IEE, núm. 29, Figueres, 1996 INTRODUCCIÓ a comarca de l’Alt Empordà forma una regió natural i històrica, defi- nida ja a la fi del període carolingi. El seu territori estigué inicial- ment dividit entre el comtat d’Empúries, amb seu a Castelló Ld’Empúries, i el comtat de Besalú. La part septentrional del comtat d’Empúries, corresponent a l’antic pagus de Peralada, seria separada l’any 1078 de la resta del comtat pel comte Ponç Hug d’Empúries, i formaria el nucli original del vescomtat de Rocabertí, futur comtat de Peralada. La branca original dels comtes d’Empúries s’estroncà l’any 1322 per la mort sense descendents del comte Ponç VI, conegut amb el sobrenom de Magaulí. Passà llavors el comtat a mans de l’infant Pere, fill de Jaume II, qui inicià la que seria la segona dinastia comtal d’Empúries. Després de nombroses complicacions dinàstiques, els títols i les propietats del comtat d’Empúries pas- sarien, finalment, a la casa ducal de Medinaceli. El que fou palau dels comtes, a Castelló d’Empúries, seria substituït per un convent, però l’arxiu de la famí- lia comtal, iniciat al segle XI, aniria seguint un llarg pelegrinatge: Arbeca (1622-40), Lucerna (Còrdova) (1641-61), Falset (1661-1741), Barcelona (Casa Gralla) (1747-1853), Madrid (Casa Medinaceli) (1854-1960) per acabar actual- ment a Sevilla (Casa de Pilatos), integrat entre els arxius dels diversos llinatges que han convergit en els actuals ducs de Medinaceli.

    HOMENATGE A DON MIQUEL MATEU I PLA (1898-1972) EN EL CENTENARI DEL SEU NAIXEMENT CATÀLEG DELS MANUSCRITS CATALANS DE LA BIBLIOTECA DEL PALAU DE PERALADA INÉS PADROSAI GORGOT INTRODUCCIÓ Ubicada en el Convent del Carme, la Biblioteca del Palau de Peralada^ fou iniciada pels comtes de Savallà i Peralada^ en el s. XIX, continuada per Miquel Mateu, després de la compra del Castell i del Convent l'any 1923 fins a la seva mort el 1972, i de llavors ençà per la seva filla Carmen Mateu de Suqué, l'actual propietària. Dels 75.000 volums que formen el seu fons bibliogràfic, hem fixat la nostra atenció en una de les seccions: la dels manuscrits. Si bé guarda 1.200 exemplars, aquest treball l'hem reduït a aquells escrits en català, íntegrament 0 parcialment, moguts per la voluntat de no ultrapassar les possibilitats d'edi­ ció. Podem afirmar que els manuscrits catalans formen un fons heterogeni en què predominen els de tipus documental, que són els menys rics de la col·lec­ ció tant pel que fa a il·lustració i a l'enquadernació com als continguts. La publicació d'aquest catàleg pretén ser una eina que faciliti als inves­ tigadors conèixer la nostra Biblioteca i, a la vegada, escorcollar els nostres fons bibliogràfics des de punts llunyans a la nostra geografia, estalviant-los viatges, despeses i, sobretot, temps. Després que Figueres, Peralada i La Jonquera arrenquen avui la dijous passat iniciés la pretemporada el nou Olot de Ramon Maria pretemporada Calderé, avui és el torn de La Jonquera, Peralada i Figueres. Només faltarà per començar el Palams, que ho farà el proper 25 de juliol al Nou Estadi. Els tres equips que avui tornaran a trepitjar el terreny de joc han tingut un estiu mogut i amb cares noves, per alguns més que altres. El que més novetats ha viscut és el Peralada. El conjunt xampanyer ha vist com li marxaven tots els jugadors i només els tècnics, Arnau Sala i Xavier Puns, seguiran aquesta temporada. El conjunt del Baix Empordà ha tingut el conveni d'afiliaci amb el Girona com a gran protagonista de l'estiu i, via Montilivi, han arribat els vuit fitxatgges que, de moment, ha anunciat el Peralada: David Serrano (Badalona), Marc Carb i Nacho Ruiz (Girona B), Pau Ribas (L'Escala), Jorge Sureda i Javi Snchez (juvenil del Mallorca), Chele (Terrassa) i Estellés (Sabadell B). És complicat parlar d'objectius pel Peralada, a causa de la total novetat de la plantilla i el seu procés d'adaptaci, principalment, tot i que des del Girona com del conjunt blanc-i-verd, no amaguen que l'equip ha de ser ambicis i mirar com més amunt millor, sense oblidar la formaci de jugadors.

    ELS MAMÍFERS DE L'ALT EMPORDÀ I: CARNIVORA, SCIURIDAE, LEPORIDAE i SUIDAE Per IGOR GRABULOSA INTRODUCCIÓ L'any 1979 vàrem realitzar, juntament amb Genar Fèlix, una primera «Introducció a l'Estudi dels Mamífers Feréstecs de l'Empordà» en la que recopilàvem i ànalitzàvem els coneixements que aleshores es tenia sobre els mamífers de la comarca. Aquell treball restà inèdit però part de la informació obtinguda va servir per una nota que publicàrem al butlletí de la I.C.H.N. i pel treball dels Aiguamolls al que fem referència a la bibliografia. Per tal de recuperar aquesta visió globalitzadora del poblament mastològic de l'Alt Empordà s'ha considerat d'interès publicar aquest treball de sintesi, en la primera part del qual es discuteix bàsicament el poblament dels mamífers superiors. Cal dir que s'ha revisat completa- ment el material i la informació que en el seu dia recollírem de Josep Cabarió i la seva col•ecció. La poca craniometria donada, procedeix exclusivament del material de què disposa l'autor i constitueix tan sols una aportació testimonial a l'espera d'un estudi més complet. Vull agrair especialment a Josep Cabarió, expert taxidermista de Llers, la seva co•laboració, tant per la informació donada com per la complacència amb que ens ha deixat estudiar el diferent material que composa la seva collecció i el que periòdicament entra en el seu taller de treball. Igualment haig d'agrair la informació i material que ens ha proporcionat Josep Ma Dacosta, Jordi Sargatàl, Rafael Romero, Rosa Salvat, Isidre Llorente, Pere Zafra, J. Carré, Jaume Geli, i molts altres als quals seria llarg ressenyar.
