Our Paddlesteamer PS Pevensey

The P.S. Pevensey was built in 1911 at Moama slipway and is powered by a 20 hp Marshall steam engine. Pevensey operated as a wool carrying vessel towing barges in Echuca’s heyday (1800- 1900s). In modern times Pevensey is known internationally as the Philadelphia, star of the mini-series “All the Rivers Run”. This incredible paddlesteamer is maintained and preserved to original standards using traditional shipwright methods handed down from previous generations. Echuca Paddlesteamers are committed to the preservation and promotion of Australia’s unique Paddlesteamer history.

What do we offer ?

 Daily one hour paddlesteamer cruises onboard P.S. Pevensey at 10.15am, 11.30am, 1.30pm & 2.45pm.

 Hear the skippers commentary as you experience an authentic paddlesteamer from the riverboats heyday.

 Fully stocked saloon bar with beverages and snacks, souvenirs available at affordable prices.

 Catering is available for group bookings, please see our list of recommended caterers.

 Opportunity to combine your cruise with the Port of Echuca’s one hour guided tours of the Echuca wharf. (additional cost applies)

 Adults $23.50 per head

 Concession $21.50 per head

 Child $9.00 per head (4-14 years)

 Carers and coach crew are free of charge, they must be included in passenger numbers at the time of booking or confirmation (7 days prior to cruising). Catering costs apply.

 Maximum passenger numbers are 100 per cruise on P.S. Pevensey. Larger groups will need to be split over two cruise times.

 Catering is available from our list of recommended caterers with payment made directly to them.

These Terms & Conditions are provided to ensure that your cruise is a success for everyone involved.

1. All bookings are subject to river level heights. Should levels create a risk to the vessel, staff or passengers, as deemed by a Risk Assessment, the cruise will be reassessed.

2. Confirmation of final numbers and catering options (if applicable) is required 7 days prior to the date of booking. Total numbers are inclusive of children and entertainers (where applicable).

3. Due to the historic nature and the authentic construction of the Paddlesteamers, some areas may only be accessible when assistance is provided.

4. Our Paddlesteamer is of timber construction and historical significance and therefore, smoking is not permitted.

5. Echuca Paddlesteamers are obligated under the Licensing Act to ensure responsible service of alcohol. Breaches of the Licensing Act by patrons during any function may lead to the termination of the function with no refund.

6. BYO alcoholic beverages are not permitted.

7. In accordance with Environmental Operations (Noise Control) Regulation 2000, no offensive noise will be emitted from a cruising vessel, including, but not limited to, loud amplified music systems. Echuca Paddlesteamers reserves the right to refuse entry and terminate service on the grounds of non-compliance with the regulation.

What do we offer ?

 Daily one hour paddlesteamer cruises onboard P.S. Pevensey at 10.15am, 11.30am, 1.30pm & 2.45pm.

 First Mates Certificate. Children are taken to the wheelhouse in small groups to try their hand at steering the paddlesteamer and earn their First Mates Certificate.

 Onboard activities such as spotto, wordsearch, and factsheets. Speak to our friendly staff about other activites that can be provided at an additional cost eg. Pet Nursery, Bugs on Board and Aussie Live Entertainment.

 The opportuntiy to include the Port of Echuca Discovery Centre tour of the historic Echuca Wharf and education package (additional costs apply).

School group pricing

 Student prices for children primary and secondary levels are $ 9.00 per head

 Adults are free of charge at a 1 :10 ratio, additional adults are at $23.00 per head

 Carers and teachers aides are free of charge, they must be included in passenger numbers at the time of booking or confirmation (7 days prior to cruising).

 Maximum passenger numbers are 100 per cruise on P.S. Pevensey. Larger groups will need to be split over two timeslots.

 Students are welcome to bring their own lunch and morning or afternoon tea onboard.

Our Venue

Echuca Paddlesteamers are committed to the preservation and promotion of Australia’s unique Paddlesteamer history. The P.S. Pevensey was built in 1911 at Moama slipway.

We provide our guests with a glimpse of life onboard a working paddlesteamer as it was during the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. This incredible paddlesteamer is maintained and preserved to original standards using traditional shipwright methods handed down from previous generations.

Although our major commodity has changed from carrying wool to people, our paddlesteamer still uses the original steam engine, fired with local redgum wood, the same as they did during the riverboat era of the late 1800’s.

Echuca is ideally located on the banks of the Murray River, and at the border of Victoria and New South Wales and the closest point of the Murray to Melbourne, a 2 ½ hour drive north (205km’s).

Our Paddlesteamer is known internationally from her staring role as the P.S. Philadelphia in the mini series “All The Rivers Run” and has been proudly accepted into the Australian Register of Historic Vessels, coordinated by the National Maritime Museum. We cater for:

Private Charters can be organised for 2 hours up to 4 hours. With the paddlesteamer holding a maximum of 100 people.

Our boat is fully licensed and beverages are available onboard at bar prices.

Our experienced and highly recommended caterers can meet all your catering needs while onboard.

Twilight cruises are magical all year round. After watching the sun set, our special lighting will illuminate the river banks into the darkness for all to enjoy.

To make your charter even more special, you are more than welcome to decorate our boat with your theme or banner for your event.

Charter Fees

Our charter fees at Echuca Paddlesteamers are fully inclusive of staff and fuel. Our minimum charter time is 2 hours:

Standard 2 Hour cruise) $1,800 inclusive GST Long (between 2 to 3.5 Hours) $2,500 inclusive GST Each additional hour after 3.5 hours $350 inclusive GST Wedding set up/rehearsal per hour $100 inclusive GST

Should you require a charter to be greater than 3.5 hours, please contact our friendly staff to discuss your needs and pricing.

Fees and charges are reviewed on an annual basis by the Shire of Campaspe and any changes to pricing are made from 1 July each year.

If you have booked a charter and paid a deposit prior to any increase, your confirmed price will remain the same. *Prices subject to change June 30, 2019.

These Terms & Conditions are provided to ensure that your function is a success for everyone involved. To secure your booking for an Echuca Paddlesteamer Charter, a $500 Booking Fee and a signed Terms & Conditions form is required.

1. Charter bookings are subject to river level heights. Should levels create a risk to the vessel, staff or passengers, as deemed by a Risk Assessment, the Charter will be reassessed. 2. Confirmation of final numbers and catering options (if applicable) is required 14 days prior to the date of hire. Total numbers are inclusive of children and entertainers (where applicable). Beverage packages are to be settled on the day of the Charter unless prior arrangements have been made. 3. Charter periods are inclusive of cruising time to specific pick up or drop off points other than Echuca Wharf. 4. Due to the historic nature and the authentic construction of the Paddlesteamers, some areas may only be accessible when assistance is provided. 5. Our Paddlesteamer is of timber construction and historical significance and therefore, smoking is not permitted. Designated smoking areas may be allocated by prior arrangement but at the discretion of management. The client accepts financial responsibility for any damage caused by guests smoking. 6. All cancellations of confirmed bookings are to be made in writing. A full refund of the booking fee is applicable only if cancellation is made 60 days prior to the event. 7. Echuca Paddlesteamers are obligated under the Licensing Act to ensure responsible service of alcohol. Breaches of the Licensing Act by patrons during any function may lead to the termination of the function with no refund applicable. 8. BYO beverages are not permitted. 9.
