Bisazza Collezione Fornasetti
PRESS RELEASE MILANO DESIGN CITY 28 September - 10 October 2020 BISAZZA COLLEZIONE FORNASETTI A mosaic collection born from the collaboration with Fornasetti During MILANO DESIGN CITY, in the via Solferino 22 flagship store, BISAZZA will present COLLEZIONE FORNASETTI, a mosaic collection born from the interpretation of the creative language of Fornasetti, the Milanese Atelier internationally renowned for its unique decorative style. This meeting of the minds between two Italian design masters produced four mosaic patterns that, taken apart and reassembled, explore new surfaces, lavish proportions, and remarkable reflections of light. Thanks to the painstaking, faithful efforts of the Fornasetti and Bisazza ateliers, the unique Fornasetti touch is re- established and enhanced by the brilliance and transparency of the glass mosaic tiles and the exquisite blending of sixty shades of colour. The timeless works acquire powerful cultural significance by virtue of the like- minded identities of the two brands, both known for their artistic and artisan content-rich collections. For the first time in large format, the Ortensia, Bocca, Serratura and Soli a Capri patterns make a spectacular statement in any living space, transforming it into a rarefied, sophisticated setting with bold personality. The Bisazza mosaic decorations reproduce some of the most iconic Fornasetti images: the mouth, the hypnotic gaze seen through a keyhole, the enigmatic face of Piero Fornasetti’s muse, opera singer Lina Cavalieri who, in the Ortensia pattern, seems to peer meekly from an explosion of pink and blue petals. The sun is another star in this collection. In Soli a Capri, a compilation of brilliant suns whimsically portrays the face of Piero Fornasetti, lighting up a background in shades of blue or grey. -

Soft Tools for Robotics and Controls Implementations
Soft Tools for Robotics and Controls Implementations A Thesis Submitted to the Faculty of Drexel University by Robert M. Sherbert in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Electrical Engineering June 2011 c Copyright 2011 Robert M. Sherbert. All rights reserved. ii Dedications To the parents who placed me on my path, to the mentors who guided me along its many turns, and to the friends who made the long journey swift. iii Acknowledgments There are a number of people to whom I owe a great deal of thanks in completing this document. While the labor has been my own, the inspiration for it and the support to finish it have come from the community around me. In creating this work I have taken on the role of toolsmith and, as tools are worthless without their users, it is to these individuals that I am especially indebted. I would like to thank Dr. Oh for lending his vision of robotics testing and prototyping which inspired this work. You have taught me more than I realized there was to know about the modern practice of science. I would also like to thank Dr. Chmielewski for lending his experience, insight, and enthusiasm to the project. Having these ideas weighed against and improved by your practical knowledge has provided a very important validation for me. Above all I would like to thank my friends at DASL, without whom the entirety of this project would have been consigned to the dust bin long ago. You have given me not only critical feedback and suggestions but also the support and encouragement that has helped me carry this to completion. -

The Politics of Arte Povera
Living Spaces: the Politics of Arte Povera Against a background of new modernities emerging as alternatives to centres of tradition in the Italy of the so-called “economic miracle”, a group formed around the critic Germano Celant (1940) that encapsulated the poetry of arte povera. The chosen name (“poor art”) makes sense in the Italy of 1967, which in a few decades had gone from a development so slow it approached underdevelopment to becoming one of the economic dri- ving forces of Europe. This period saw a number of approaches, both nostalgic and ideological, towards the po- pular, archaic and timeless world associated with the sub-proletariat in the South by, among others, the writer Carlo Levi (1902-1975) and the poet and filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini (1922-1975). the numbers relate to the workers who join a mensa operaia (workers’ table), a place as much to do with alienation as unionist conspiracy. Arte povera has been seen as “a meeting point between returning and progressing, between memory and anti- cipation”, a dynamic that can be clearly understood given the ambiguity of Italy, caught between the weight of a legendary past and the alienation of industrial develo- pment; between history and the future. New acquisitions Alighiero Boetti. Uno, Nove, Sette, Nove, 1979 It was an intellectual setting in which the povera artists embarked on an anti-modern ap- proach to the arts, criticising technology and industrialization, and opposed to minimalism. Michelangelo Pistoletto. It was no coincidence that most of the movement’s members came from cities within the Le trombe del Guidizio, 1968 so-called industrial triangle: Luciano Fabro (1936-2007), Michelangelo Pistoletto (1933) and Alighiero Boetti (1940-1994) from Turin; Mario Merz (1925-2003) from Milan; Giu- lio Paolini (1940) from Genoa. -
