En su dueto con Sierra ‘È il sol dell’anima, la vita è amore’, Demuro matiza un poco más para acoplarse con la delicadeza de su Gilda. Sus agudos y sobreagudos son brillantes, un poco abiertos, pero bien timbrados. Incluye la cabaletta ‘Possente amor mi chiama’ que canta con desenfreno, culminándola con un Mi sobreagudo interpolado que se escucha muy débil. La Gilda de Nadine Sierra posee la dulzura y la fuerza que son necesarias para el papel, cantando con preciosa línea de canto sus duetos con Rigoletto y el Duque en el primer acto seguidos de un exquisito ‘Caro nome’. Su voz es puramente lírica y no es la típica voz ligera que se suele asociar con el papel RIGOLETTO (Verdi) de la hija del bufón. Se adentra en el papel desde su entrada en D. Hvorostovsky, N.     6 Affirming Genocide Knowledge through Rituals Parts I and II of this book examined the emergence of repertoires of knowledge regarding the Armenian genocide through social interaction, objectified thought processes, bearing witness, and the involvement of knowledge entrepreneurs. We saw how knowledge generated through these processes took radically different shapes as it became sedimented within each of two distinct carrier groups, Arme- nians and Turks. Oppositional worldviews and associated knowledge reper toires are not unique to this case, of course. We find them, for example, when those who recognize the role of human action in global warming encounter others who see a Chinese conspiracy at work, aimed at harming the U.S. economy. Or again, when those who know that liberal or social democracy will secure a prosperous and secure future disagree with followers of populist authoritarian leaders and parties. The question arises of how each collectivity deals with the challenges posed by the other side. Now, in part III, we encounter two strategies commonly deployed in struggles over knowledge. While chapters 7 and 8 address conflictual engagement with the opposing side in the realms of politics and law, and chapter 9 explores counterpro- ductive effects of denial in an age of human rights hegemony, the present chapter examines the use of elaborate public rituals toward the reaffirmation of genocide knowledge within each of the contending collectivities. We owe early social-scientific insights into the role of rituals in social life to Émile Durkheim. In his book The Elementary Forms of Religious Life, Durkheim ([1912] 2001) tells us about the ability of rituals to sanctify objects and charge sym- bols that represent them with a special energy.

Until the financial and economic crisis, the Armenian economy had grown by more than 10% per annum. In Armenia, 12 cities generate almost 90% of the nation's gross domestic product (GDP). Economic activity remains, however, concentrated in Yerevan and, to a lesser extent, in Gyumri and Vanadzor. The competitiveness and attractiveness of Yerevan and secondary cities are critical to growth rate recovery. The sector assessment has divided urban areas into four groups: (i) Yerevan, the capital city; (ii) secondary cities such as Gyumri, Vanadzor, and Kapan; (iii) cities with potential for economic development such as Armavir, Artashat, Artarak and Ararat; and (iv) cities with high tourism potential such as Jermuk, Dilijan, Sevan, and Tsakhradzor. Urban Armenia. In a total population estimated at 3.24 million, 64% is urban. With 1.12 million inhabitants, Yerevan has 53.6% of the country’s urban population and one-third of the county’s total population. Urbanization lacks a strategic focus, so there is too little integrated land use or transport planning. Infrastructure and municipal services delivery in most cities and towns are deficient.
