have never actually been to Paris but I have traveled there many I times. The same can be said for Rome, Cairo, Saint Petersburg, Seville, Peking, and Charleston. I have been a death row inmate and the 108 year- old Emperor of China. In fact, I have inhabited the souls and lives of priests and peasants, noblemen and villagers, soldiers, prisoners, a slave owner and a Hebrew slave. The vehicle for these amazing journeys was, and remains, opera. At a young age I discovered the transformative power of music: it's ability to move me both phys ically and emotionally. I attended my first opera in the spring of 1979 (La Tra viata with Catherine Malfitano), I was on stage in the chorus of my first production six months later, and now, 30 years later, I have the great fortune to continue my journey as a member of the Michigan Opera Theatre Chorus. Before the days of the Detroit Opera House, my journey also included venues in Detroit's Theater District: the Music Hall , the Fisher Theatre and Masonic Temple.
