01591 610236 Llanwrtyd Wells & District Twinning Association

More accommodation is still required for some of the Meriel visitors coming to Llanwrtyd for the Four Days' Walks later this month. Please, if anyone has a spare room and would be willing to offer hospitality to one or two guests for 5 nights, the Association Secretary would be most grateful to hear from you!

The walkers are due to arrive on Tuesday 19th September (evening) and leave on Sunday 24th (morning). They go out walking every day from 9.00 a.m. to late afternoon, so all they need is an evening meal, a nice comfy bed, basic bathroom facilities and a simple Continental breakfast in the morning. They are always very friendly and appreciative of staying in homes because it enables them to learn about our culture and experience life as we live it. And we get the chance of sharing their way of life (lots of cheese and wine!) when we go back and visit them in their homes in Meriel next summer!

If you could help with accommodation - or if you could invite one or two to an evening meal - please contact Association Secretary, Liz Morris e-mail: [email protected] or ring the Chairman, Bryn Davies on 01591 610633 or any member of the Twinning Association Committee.

The next Business Meeting is on Thursday 7th September at 8.00 p.m. in the Institute, everybody welcome!

Llanwrtyd Wells Thursday Walkers

The Thursday Walkers continue to meet in the Neuadd Arms every Thursday before setting out on a walk of about 5 miles. There's usually a good turnout, the routes are varied and interesting and so far no walks have been repeated. Recent walks have taken the group further afield: from Beulah over Cefn Gardis to see the hidden lake; through the river to Cefn Gorwedd and back along a route no-one had followed before; into the Crychan Forest from the Sugar Loaf; a long climb up Esgair Dafydd for the fabulous views. And there's plenty more to discover yet ...... It's a very happy, friendly group, the pace is easy and no-one gets left behind. There are lots of stops to admire views and enjoy snacks, drinks and a picnic lunch. And there's tea and cake (or beer) back at the Neuadd afterwards. Everyone's welcome to come and join the group for an enjoyable, sociable day out in the fresh air, just turn up at the Neuadd Arms on a Thursday morning at 10.15am for a 10.30am start. For more information, please contact Geoff on [email protected] or telephone 01591 610701 (mobile no. 07960 229919) or any member of the group.

To make it easier I have this year purchased boxes from the charity, to save people having to look for a shoe box. You will be able to collect your shoe box from Ysgol Dolafon, St James Church, or 1, Tai Cae Mawr, after the 1st October.

Please return your full boxes to 1, Tai Cae Mawr by the 13th November. Thank you Ann Stocker.
