NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Wildcats Congratulate Midget Players Honoued at Ice Jam Sanford, Deacon and Whynot Standouts at Prestigious Tournament 14/01/2019 BERWICK, NOVA SCOTIA – The Valley Wildcats, of the Maritime Hockey League, are proud to extend congratulations to Wildcats midget players Cam Whynot of Kentville, Blake Deacon of Port Williams and Grant Sanford of Sackville who received post-tournament accolades at the East Coast Ice Jam Major Midget and Major Bantam tournament that concluded Sunday in Bedford. Whynot was named top defenceman and first-year player; Deacon (a forward) earned second-team all-star honours and Sanford – who has been impressive in three games with the Junior A Wildcats this season – was named the tourney’s first-team all-star goaltender. Additionally, left-winger Gregor Yoell of New Minas finished second in round-robin scoring. “The Wildcats are proud of the achievements of these young players who are fine representatives of our organization and the Valley. We wish them all the best as they continue to pursue their hockey dreams,” said Wildcats Coach/G.M. Nick Greenough. Junior A Wildcats prospect Chad Arsenault, playing for the Kensington (PEI) Wild, was named top goaltender. The Junior A Wildcats travel to New Glasgow on Thursday to play the Pictou County Crushers at 7 p.m. and host the Grand Falls Rapids on Saturday at 7.
