Valley Major Midget Wildcats Players Drafted in QMJHL

` Cameron Whynot and Blake Deacon Drafted in QMJHL Draft

06/07/2019

Berwick,

Congratulations to Cameron Whynot of Kentville and Blake Deacon of Port Williams for being drafted in the 2019 QMJHL (Quebec Major Junior Hockey League) Draft. Whynot is a skilled defenseman on both sides of the puck as the Kentville native played 35 games for the Valley Wildcats Major Midget team last season, where in 35 games he scored 13 goals and 27 assists. With also being named top defenseman in the NSMMHL (Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League), he was the captain of the boys team for Nova Scotia at the 2019 Games in Red Deer, Alberta. With being selected 9th by the Sherbrooke Phoenix, not only was he the first Nova Scotian selected in the 2019 QMJHL Draft, but looks to be a talented defenseman going forward. Meanwhile Blake Deacon, a native of Port Williams was selected in the 9th round (148th overall) by the Cape Brenton Screaming Eagles. In addition with the fact Deacon was name to the NSMMHL Rookie All-Star team this year, in 36 games for the Wildcats, he scored 14 goals and 23 assists. With the great work and skills that both Cameron Whynot and Blake Deacon have demonstrated, especially with the Valley Wildcats, we hope that they continue to showcase their talents at the next level and beyond.

Sincerely,

Valley Wildcats organization
