Get ready for a truly inspiring dramatic experience in which young artists of a variety of talent levels are nurtured in a positive and creative theatre experience. Students are led by working theatre professionals in classes designed to develop imagination, concentration, and confidence with movement and dance, voice, technique, character, theatrical design and appreciation of the theatrical artistic journey. Participants will create an original be absorbed in acting tools, scene work, script creation, improvisation and dance/movement for two weeks while exploring and adapting an original story for public performances in July 2017. This is a special and unique opportunity to work with artists from Brüka Theatre to develop craft, focus and technique. Open to 24 participants. !$250 for two weeks. Sign up by July 1, 2017. Brüka Theatre is a leader in the region, recognized for its productions, artists and theatre for children series since its founding in 1992. Central to Brüka is the commitment to the reinvestigation of contemporary and classic plays and developing new plays within Brüka’s Artistic Collective, which include winners of the Nevada Arts Council and Sierra Arts Foundation artist grants and 9 local best actor honors. Brüka is a non- equity and not- for-profit theater TCG small professional company that has produced over 100 shows in our th downtown Reno location. This is our 7 Annual Brüka Theatre Summer Camp. Workshop Artists Mary Bennett – Core Director. Improvisation. Acting. Creation. Producing Artistic Director – Brüka Theatre. Works as actor, director, producer and Artist in Residence for The Nevada Arts Council and The Sierra Arts Foundation and teaches improv at TMCC. Bennett has worked as a professional theatre creator for over 25 years. She has adapted Grimm’s Fairytales in workshops for children and adults and created original works for the duration of her theatrical career. Alexander Biber – Movement. Choreography Company member of the Sacramento Ballet. Alex also dances with Sierra Nevada Ballet and recently choreographed for Sac Ballet’s Beer and Ballet. Alex has also worked as choreographer/creator on Brüka’s Buttcracker series and has been seen in numerous Brüka performances. Lew Zaumeyer – Set Design Lew had designed Brüka sets for over 15 years. Lew also works as an actor and board member at Brüka. An architect for most of his adult life, Lew also designed the new Reno Little Theater on Wells Avenue. David Simpson – Technical Director, Lighting & Sound Design Dave is the Technical Director for Brüka Theatre and has worked for over 20 years on the technical side of the theatre with forays onto the stage in shows including The Underpants and The Buttcracker series. Simpson has designed the lights for over forty shows while also designing sound and multi-media elements and has worked as the Technical Director for the Lear Theater and at different venues in Santa Rosa, California. Cami Thompson – Vocal Direction Cami been teaching and coaching singers and actors for over 30 years and has had 3 students featured on the TV show "The Voice". Cami is a popular performer Singer, actor, band leader, arranger, songwriter, teacher - has gained a world-wide reputation for wowing audiences with her 4-octave voice of great beauty, control and passion. Her professional career spans 40 years across 20 countries. honesty and exciting vibrancy. Cami's recordings can be purchased on iTunes and Amazon. CAO Three hundred years ago, in the summer of 1720, the bursting of the South Sea Bubble marked the first recorded stock market crash. The ensuing financial crisis provided great fodder for the British satirical press, which took to caricaturing both the company’s gullible victims and manipulative executives. Among the rich material trove of that historical moment are a pair of prints published by the London shop of John Bowles and Carington Bowles.1 Titled The Bubblers Medley, or A Sketch of the Times: Being Europe’s Memorial for the Year 1720, the prints depict a scattered array of paper artifacts in collage-like, random fashion. Sheets overlap and furl on the edges, creating a trompe l’oeil effect that encourages viewers to misread the artwork as a collection of the actual ephemera it represents. Trompe l’oeil–style prints like these, also called medley prints, developed in 1700s London, and in the century that followed they enjoyed episodic popularity, often at moments of fiscal uncertainty. As Mark Hallett argues, this print type, like other satirical images referencing public discourses and debates, was meant to be read as well as viewed.

A variety show competition tonight is Camp Wickeeup’s last chance to win the annual olympics against their arch rival, Camp Pine Cone. And winning these olympics isn’t just a game - it’s tradition! Trouble is, the Great Buffalo Wigwam was the cabin drawn to represent the camp. And the seven campers of the wigwam are not only sleepy, sneezy, grumpy, happy etc., but also completely inept! Luckily for the campers, Jo White, who would rather sing than whistle while she works, has escaped to their cabin. She was a maid for Mama Lu, one of the hottest rock stars around, but had to exit fast when an agent heard Jo singing and offered her a recording contract. Mama Lu, who has a somewhat fragile voice, is afraid Jo will be a bigger hit than she is. So she and her two back-up singers, Tiny and Bubbles, are out to get Jo.
