TOWNS- NOTICES MADE PURSUANT TO SECTION 3 OF THE TOWN BOUNDARIES ORDINANCE 1924-1927 DECLARING PLACES TO BE TOWNS AND DECLARING THE BOUNDAR IES OF TOWNS. Particulars of these notices are set out in the Table below and the notices are printed immediately after the Table. All the notices are printed (including those whch are not now in force under the Town Boundaries Ordinance 1924-1927), for the reason that proclama tions and notices under other Ordinances (e.g. the Pounds Ordinance 1920-1925) define boundaries by reference to town boundaries which have subsequently been altered. [Notice dated 5th May, 1924, and published in New Guinea Gazette of 15th May, 1924.] Town Boundaries Ordinance 1924. In pursuance of the provisions of the Town Boundaries Ordinance 1924 I, Evan Alexander Wisdom, Administrator of the Territory of New Guinea, do hereby give notice and declare that the boundaries of the Town of Rabaul shall be as hereunder described. DESCRIPTION. All that piece or parcel of land comprised within the following boundaries: "Commencing at a point on the shore of Simpson Harbour being the north-east corner of that portion of land owned and occupied by the Methodist Mission Society at Malakuna, entered in the Ground Book of the Gazelle Peninsula, Vol. 2, Folio 159, and bounded thence on the south-west by the north-east boundary of that portion of land and the production thereof to the north-western side of the main Kokopo road, thence on the north-west by the aforesaid north-western side of that road, bearing north-easterly to its intersection with the south-west side· of the Rataval or North Coast-road, thence on-the south-west by the south-western side of that road bearing north-w~sterlyto the main watershed at Rataval Tunnel. Thence by that ·watershed bearing generally north-easterly to the summit of the North Daughter, thence on the north-east by a line bearing magnetic 122 degrees 4487 TOWNS- to the point of intersection of parallel 4 degrees 12 minutes of South latitude with tJl,e N odup-road, thence- on the East by a line bearing South to its intersection with a'.high ridge South of Namanula Hospital, thence on the South, 80uth-easl and East by that ridge bearing Westerly, South-westerly and Southerly to a point lying 500 metres East of the South-east corner of Hernsheim 's plantati~n known as Matupi Farm. Thence on the South by a line bearing Westerly to the aforesaid South-east corner of the Matupi Farm, thence again on the South by the Southern boundary of Matupi Farm aforesaid to the shores of Simpson Harbour, thence by the shores of Simpson Harbour bearing generally Northerly, North-westerly and ,Westerly to the point of commencement." [Notice dated 5th May, 1924, and published in New Guinea Gazette of 15th May, 1924.] Town Boundaries Ordinance 1924; In pursuance of the provisions of the Town Boundaries Ordinance 1924 I, Evan Alexander Wisdom, the Administrator of the Territory of New Guinea, do hereby give notice and declare Namatanai to ,be a town and that the boundaries of the said Town of Namatanai shall be 'as hereunder described. DESCRIPTION. All that piece or parcel of land comprised within the following boundaries: "Commencingat a point on the shores of Nabuto Bay, being the North-east corner of that piece or parcel of land entered in the Ground Book of New Mecklenberg, Vol .. II., Folio 7, in the name of the Catholic Mission,' and bounded thence on the North-west by the South-eastern boundary of that area aforesaid bearing South-westerly for 223 metres to a,point on the North-western side of the main coastal road, and bounded thence again on the North-west by the North western side of the aforesaid road bearing South-westerly for 350 metres, thence on the West by a line bearing Southerly for 1,010 metres, thence on the South by a line bearing Easterly for 935 metres to a point on the left bank of the Matakon River, thence on the East by the left ba·nk of that river aforesaid bearing generally Northerly to the South-east corner of the property of Hernsheim and Company, thence on the North-east by the' South-western boundary of that property aforesaid, bearing North-westerly for, 390 metres to a point on the shores of Nabuto Bay, thence on the North-west and North by the. shores of that bay aforesaid, 'bearing generally South-westerly and Westerly to point of commencement." . , ' Given under my hand and the Seal of the Territory this fifth day of May, One thousand nine hundred and twenty-four. In pursuance of the provisions of the Town Boundd·ries Ordinance' i924 I, Evan Alexander Wisdom, Administrator of the Territory of New Guin(;a, do hereby give notice and declare that the boundaries of the Town of Kavieng shall be as hereunder described. DESCRIPTION. Azz. that piece or parcel of land comprised within the following boundaries: "Commencing at a point on the shores of Nusa Harbour being the most Westerly corner of the property of the Hamburg Sudsee A1ctien Gessellschaft and bounded thence on the North by part of the boundary of that property aforesaid bearing Easterly for about 10(} metres to a cement peg,' thence on the East by a line bearing Sou,th for about 300 ,metres, thence again on the North by a line bearing East for about 450 metres to a point 01; the Western boundary of the property leased to the New Guinea Company, and thence again on the East by part of that boundary aforesaid bearing South for about 150 metres, thence again on the North by a line bearing East for about 130 metres to a poin't on the Eastern boundary of the property leased to the New Guinea Company aforesaid, ' thence again on the East by part of that bo'/)ndary bearing SrJUth by about 115 metres to a point on ,the Northern bounda.ry of the main East c'oast-road, th,ence across that road ~foresaid bearing South to the Southern boundary of' that road aforesaid, thence by, a line bearing South through the Government Plantation for about 440 '"!.etres, thence on the South-east by a line bearing South-westerly for about 400 metres, thence again on the East by a line running South for about 350 metres to a point on the North-east boundary of the property of the Catholic Mission being about 250 metres distant from the foreshore and 'bounded thence qgain on the South-east by a line bearing Southerly for about 210 metres to a point on the South-western· boundary of the property of the Catholic Mission aforesaid.
