Speaker Profile SPEAKER PROFILE 1 AgriCorp 2013 “Making Agriculture Remunerative” October 24-25, 2013 at ITC Grand Central, Mumbai About the AgriCorp: The Agriculture Committee of Bombay Chamber has been organizing AgriCorp Conference since the year 2000. The Conference continues to take lead and maintain its distinctiveness through well articulated recommendations which provides a road map for creating a facilitative environment to enhance growth and development of Agriculture. Objective: To understand recent developments, trends, challenges in agriculture and Identify actionable areas to make the sector profitable. To identify technology imperatives for water use efficiency and other agri inputs To recommend improvements in post harvest management practices, including technological innovations To recommend areas for modernization and improving efficiency along the value chain To increase private investment in agriculture To create and identify opportunities for easy access to finance About Bombay Chamber: Established in 1836, the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry is one of the oldest Chambers in the Country. Bombay Chamber has an illustrious history of 177 years, and has, as its constituents, more than 4500 professionally-run companies from various sectors who together contribute a significant portion of India‟s trillion dollar economy. The Chamber has played a significant role in the development Mumbai. The Chamber serves as an effective vehicle of communication between the regulatory bodies, the corporate and the society. The Chamber collaborates with other Industry associations, industry associations from Mofussil areas and thus increases its reach to the decision makers beyond boundaries of Mumbai. The Chamber contributes effectively towards overall development of its member companies by addressing core issues and remaining responsive to the needs of business. Over the past few years the Bombay Chamber has moved somewhat from the traditional role of advocacy with Government and facilitating trade and Industry to play a larger role of "Corporate as a Citizen". Mr. Sanjay Kaul is currently, MD & CEO of National Collateral Management Services Limited (NCML). Professional experience spanning 36 years, of which 28 years has been in the Indian Administrative Service (1979 batch, Karnataka Cadre), 5 years in the private sector, and 3 years in teaching/research assignments. Prior to joining NCML, he worked as the first Director and CEO of the NCDEX Institute of Commodity Markets & Research, His last assignment with the Government was as Joint Secretary (FCI and Food Policy), Ministry of Agriculture, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India. Mr. Anil Jain has served as Managing Director and CEO of Jain Irrigation Systems since 1992. He is a veteran professional with over 25 years of experience in core strategic areas such as finance and banking, domestic and international marketing, strategic planning, horizontal and vertical expansion, and change management. He is an advocate for the marginal, subjugated farmer‟s cause across the world, and works zealously for the issues of food security and water security in the underdeveloped and developing world. Mr. Homi Khusrokhan is a B.Com from Bombay University, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and a M.Sc. (Econ.) from the London School of Economics & Political Science. He worked for 29 years with Glaxo & Burroughs Wellcome in India and retired in 2000 as MD of both companies. Thereafter he was MD of Tata Tea and later Tata Chemicals, both globally ranked 2nd in their industries. After retirement from the Tata Group in 2008, he now serves on the Boards of several companies in a non-executive and advisory capacity. In February 2009, he was appointed a Special Adviser to the Government-appointed Board of Satyam Computer Services Ltd. to assist with the successful turn-round of the company and the induction of a new strategic investor. He is President of the Bombay Natural History Society and Chairman of the Western Region of the Employers Federation of India. He has been the Chairman of the Advisory Committee for 2 previous Agricorp Conferences of the BCCI. Dr. Kulkarni graduated in agriculture and earned a prestigious fellowship of FAO to acquire his Master‟s degree in Food Technology from CFTRI, Mysore and subsequently Ph.D. He was DANIDA Fellow for one year at Denmark, Consultant in Indonesia, Advisor and visiting Professor at University of Mauritius, visiting fellow to Chinese Academy of Sciences in China and had academic visits to U.K. Germany, France, Sweden, Singapore, Malaysia, USA. He established Agri Food Research Foundation of India and served, as its first Director. Mr. Anirban Ghosh has studied Electrical Engineering at Jadavpur University, Calcutta and has subsequently attended the Fellow Program in Management at IIM, Ahmedabad. He began his career with Hewlett-Packard Division, Blue Star Ltd. and then moved to Modi Xerox. He Joined the Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. in 1999 and has handled various portfolios in Sales, Marketing, Strategy, New Business Development and has been the President of Mahindra USA Inc. Currently he is the Vice President for Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility and Ethics in the Automotive & Farm Equipment Sectors of Mahindra. Management commentaries on earnings outlook remained positive, on improving economic activity post second COVID-19 wave and anticipation of strong demand revival. Demand recovery and ramp-up of vaccinations look encouraging. We expect economic activity to increase in the upcoming festive season. Nifty trades at 23x and 20x EPS based on FY2022E/FY2023E EPS, at a premium to mean average. Valuation gap between large and mid-caps has shrunk, we advise investors to focus on stocks with strong earnings growth potential with reasonable valuation.
