PGY-4 Ashish Rai, MD Medical School: Dr. D.Y. Patil Medical College, India About me: I am originally from a small town in India called Ranchi. I attended medical school in Mumbai and moved to New York with my wife in 2014. I am interested in Pulmonary/Critical care. I am currently engaged in clinical research involving goals of care discussion among terminally ill patients, role of fluid resuscitation in sepsis, and global health research related to COPD and flutter valve devices. Personal interests: Traveling and food (includes cooking and of course, eating)

PGY-3 Yahya Ahmad, MD Medical School: King Edward Medical University, Lahore, Pakistan. About me: I was born in Saudi Arabia, raised in Lahore, Pakistan. I like outdoor activities, especially enjoy watching and playing sports especially tennis, big Federer fan, even now. Clinical Interests: I want myself to be a good well rounded physician. I am interested in Cardiology and would love to be an Interventional cardiologist one day. Hobbies: Watching tennis, Go-karting, Playing squash and table tennis, video direction, trying out new restaurants, following current affairs.

I love reading novels; some of my favorite series include Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. Also, I’m a Doctor Who fan. Samira Reyes Dassum, MD Medical School: Universidad San Francisco de Quito (Quito, Ecuador) About me: I grew up in Quito, Ecuador. I attended an American International school so I was fortunate enough to make friends from all over the world. Clinical Interests: I am interested in Internal Medicine, hospitalist medicine, Infectious Disease and Endocrinology. Adam Matos, DO About me: I am a Massachusetts native; born and raised in Lawrence MA by Portuguese immigrants. I completed all of my schooling in New England, making sure to stay close to family and friends. I developed a deep interest in medicine and a passion for patient care at a young age as I worked as a junior-technician at a very busy trauma center when I was 16 years old. After 14 years of aggressive pursuit, I graduated in 2017 from the UNE COM. My clinical interests include hospital medicine, addiction medicine, and primary care. I hope to eventually develop a unique model of practice that will allow me to pursue all of my interests and provide excellent care across both inpatient and outpatient settings. When I’m not working in the wards, I can be found spending my spare time as an automotive mechanic, fishing on my kayak in local lakes and rivers, and restoring/repurposing furniture.

Jose Mena, MD Medical School: Universidad Internacional del Ecuador About me: I am from Quito, Ecuador. Before starting residency I had the opportunity to teach pharmacology and physiology at my medical school. I really like to play soccer and spend quality time with my family. Yunus Emre Tarhan, MD Medical School: Istanbul University Cerrahpasa Medical Faculty About me: I was born and raised in Turkey. After my medical school, I decided to pursue translational research in the field of Hematology and Oncology. I worked with world renowned scientist Dr. Yusuke Nakamura for more than 2 years. Now, with all the research experiences I have, I am going to integrate my knowledge to find solutions to intricate problems in clinical settings. Clinical Interests: Hematology and Oncology or Rheumatology Personal Interests: Soccer, traveling, Big fan of Besiktas.

Sohaib Ansari, MD About me: Originally from a small town in Pakistan, I moved to the US after completing my medical school. I had the fantastic experience of working in Endocrinology at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia before starting my residency as part of the North Shore Physicians group at NSMC. Clinical Interests: General Internal Medicine / Hematology & Oncology. Personal Interests: Spending time with my family, Writing, Squash, Xbox / PlayStation.

Yusef Esparza Monzavi, MD Medical School: Pontifica University Catolica del Ecuador, Ecuador About me: I grew up in Quito, Ecuador, but I was raised in a Persian culture. I come from a family where my parents and brother are doctors. I love to travel and spend time with my family and my two little dogs. Clinical interest: Gastroenterology, Neurology, and cardiology. Personal Interest: Playing soccer, watching movies, working out, and spending time with my dogs.

Adeyinka Adejumo, MD About me: After growing up and attending medical school in the Southwestern part of Nigeria, I completed a year of voluntary medical service as a youth corp., where as the only physician within a 5-mile radius, I was privileged to provide life-saving procedures to the populace. I then came over to the US to get some experience in translational medicine. Clinical Interests: I am excited to be getting a comprehensive training across every discipline of internal medicine at NSMC. With the recent rise in the decriminalization of marijuana use across the U.S., I enjoy learning about the clinical implications, outcomes, diseases, and management of individuals with excessive cannabis use across every branch of medicine. Personal Interests: Although I enjoy watching and analyzing soccer matches, relaxing at the beach, and hanging out with friends, nothing gives me more joy than spending time with my family.

Caroline Cubbison, MD Medical School: Universidad Iberoamericana, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic About me: I am a bicultural Latina who grew up in the Dominican Republic. I love spending time with my family (especially my dog!), and even more so when it is outdoors exploring all the awesomeness New England has to offer. Prior to residency I was fortunate enough to work on HIV research at MGH, and working with underserved populations is a passion of mine. I am interested in palliative care, pain medicine and rheumatology, and hope to improve the quality of life for all my patients. Personal interests: Cooking (I make a mean paella, only surpassed by our family recipe chocolate cake); dreaming up travel itineraries near and far; listening to Radiolab; reading anything by Atul Gawande.

David Warnock, DO Medical School: University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine

About me: I was born in Springfield Massachusetts but have moved across the east coast with my family and for school. I’m happy to be back in Massachusetts and will be continuing with anesthesiology residency after this year at St. Elizabeth’s in Brighton MA.

Faith Omede, MD Personal interests: I’m an avid skier, play piano, read SciFi/Fantasy, RuPaul, and enjoy good food. Winter is coming, and with it the next season of Game of Thrones (almost). I went to medical school in V.N Karazin National University,Kharkiv, Ukraine. The second largest city in Ukraine. I grew up in a small town in Southern Nigeria. Having a sick sibling and my family's experience with the health care system propelled my interest in caring for people. After a degree in Microbiology, I sought further training and jumped at the opportunity to study medicine in Ukraine. While there, I had the opportunity to do an elective in University of Kansas Medical Center and this further fueled my interest to practice here. Upon graduation, I was offered an opportunity to work in a research lab where I worked for a span of two years on CKD/ADPKD translational research. I enjoy traveling and spending time in warm, sunny beaches. In my leisure time, I spend time with friends and family and enjoy bowling. I am ultimately interested in Critical care and hospital medicine.

Cynthia Wisnieff, MD Medical School: Tufts University School of Medicine About me: Grew up in a small town in the suburbs of New York. I have studied engineering and medicine here in Boston for 8 years. I am so happy to be spending my first year on the North Shore before heading to Boston Medical Center radiology residency. Personal interest: Swimming, sailing, sewing clothes, sketching

Edward Bae, MD Medical School: Boston University School of Medicine About me: I grew up in Southern California but came out to the East Coast for medical school and I am really enjoying the 4 seasons out here. I enjoy building computers, learning about the interface between technology and medicine, and learning about skin disease and newer biologic agents. Personal Interests:Cooking, reading, tennis, yoga, weight lifting

Allisa Alpert, DO Medical School: Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, Pennylvania. About me: I was born in Houston, Texas but moved with my family to New England at age 10. Before medical school I worked as a medical assistant in downtown Boston for 3 years and it was a goal of mine to return to this area for residency. I have an interest in hospital medicine including pulmonary and nephrology critical care. Personal interests: I love to do community service work, both local and international and my family has been heavily involved in service projects in El Salvador for 15 years.

Usama Talib Med school: King Edward Medical University, Lahore, Pakistan About me: I am a former post graduate research fellow at Harvard Medical School and have done some projects at Johns Hopkins University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Personal Interest: I like playing soccer, badminton, cricket and tennis. I like to read and write. I enjoy outdoor activities like sky lining and kayaking.

Sneha Lakshman, MD Medical School: Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, India About me: I was born in India, and raised in Dubai, UAE. In my spear time I like baking and trying out new recipes. I am passionate about traveling and exploring new destinations. Beenish Furquan MD Medical School: Ross University School of Medicine, Dominica About me: I was born in Pakistan, spent my childhood in Saudi Arabia and later grew up in Canada. I enjoy long road trips with my husband. And spending time with family. Clinical interests: Community medicine, Pulmonary/Critical medicine, Gastroenterology Personal Interests: travelling, household repair projects, cooking, driving upto Canada when i get the chance.

Aseef Ahmed, DO Medical School- University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine About me- I was raised in a small town in RI called Wakefield and did my undergrad at the University of Rhode Island with a focus on Microbiology and Philosophy. I soon delved into the neurosciences and studied novel therapies for treating Alzheimer's disease, and obtained my Masters. At the start of Medical school, I joined a study on neural mechanisms of Dry eye and developed a deep interest in clinical ophthalmology. I dedicated a year towards a clinical fellowship in uveitis in Boston. I'll be starting ophthalmology residency at GWU after my intern year. Personal interest- I love hiking, camping, canoeing, sculpting, painting, carpentry.
