6Th-11Th JULY 2014 ITALY BULLETIN NR. 2 WORLD TRAIL ORIENTEERING CHAMPIONSHIPS 6th-11th JULY 2014 ITALY COMUNE DI VENEZIA WORLD TRAIL ORIENTEERING CHAMPIONSHIPS I am pleased and honoured to present the 2014 World Orienteering Championships, which for the first time will be held in Italy next year and to be precise in the Trentino and Veneto regions, considered our national orienteering’s cradles. I am sure that the Venice’s canals, that will be the site of the sprint competition, the town centre of Trento, where the Relay Team will make its debut, the beautiful forests of Lavarone and Asiago, where other big world events have already taken place, will leave all these great athletes an indelible memory of Italy after long trainings and sacrifices to fulfil their world dream. During the week the orienteers and their supporters will enjoy not only woods and landscapes, but also the famous Italian hospitality, the food, the artistic heritage and the towns, rich of history and culture like not many others in the world. An excellent job has been done by the local technical staff who is preparing to organize an appointment full of commitments. In the name of the Italian Orienteering Federation, thanks to all the departments of the Veneto and Trentino regions, to all the local administrations, the Tourist boards, event’s partners and sponsor, associations and thanks to the volunteers for their support, so precious to realize this great sporting event. The technical terrain and the added value offered by Venice will satisfy the most demanding expectations. This will be a great sporting event and an opportunity to show the Orienteering world, once again, that Italy can organize events with great professionalism, using all our best resources. While some areas have a rather mild and Mediterranean climate, it is a fairly Alpine climate with short summers and cold winters characterizing the places at higher altitudes, mountains and glaciers. Hullb a Department of Computer and Management Sciences University of Trento, Italy [email protected] b Thompson Rivers University British Columbia, Canada [email protected] Abstract Increasing success of social networks among users and widespread experiences of companies and organisations on Web 2.0 spaces, calls for flexible web presence strategies that are able to manage an increasing number of changes in technology and behavioural changes of users. The main challenge for Destination Management Organisations (DMOs) is to design a comprehensive online presence through the use of social networks and websites. To this end it is assumed that an analysis of the web presence strategies of similar destinations could help to identify good practices that integrate Web 2.0 tools and facilities. Preliminary results of a study comparing the web presence strategies of two DMOs are given. The research approach adopts a systematic process that evaluates the evolving web presence strategies of the two destinations, describing the main good practices identified. Keywords: DMO, website quality, good practices, official and semi-official presences 1 Introduction The Web presence strategy of a DMO – even for a small destination - should go beyond the B2C (Business to Consumer) and the B2B (Business to Business) websites, including some of the most successful Web 2.0 spaces and tools (in the large on- and off-line literature, see, for example (Travel Daily News, 2010)). In this respect, DMOs have to make a number of decisions that address: ‘which’ social networks they are adopting; which document sharing websites they will invest in; and ‘how’ to be present on the identified spaces.

Trentino, terra di montagna I confini del Trentino La provincia di Trento presenta dei confini estreni che in parte percorrono catene montuose e in parte presentano una demarcazione non definita da motivi orografici, quanto piuttosto da ragioni storiche e culturali. Essa c onfina a nord con la provincia di Bolzano, a est e a sud con le province venete di Belluno, Vicenza e Verona , e a ovest con le province lombarde di Brescia e Sondrio. Provincia di Bolzano Trentino Lombardia Veneto La morfologia, l’estensione e la ricchezza del territorio Il Trentino è una delle due provincie autonome , che compongono la regione italiana Trentino -Alto Adige. Il territorio è pressoché completamente montuos o, basti ricordare che circa il 77% de l territorio si trova al di sopra dei 1000 m s.l.m. Le catene montuose si innalzano fino ad un massimo di 3900 m. A sud, la riva trentina del Lago di Garda , registra un'altitudine minima di circa 70 m s.l.m. Il territorio del T rentino si estende per 6207 km². Esso non presenta però caratteri di omogeneità, ma assume invece una notavole varietà di forme, nonché di condizioni climatiche ed ambientali. Volendo raggruppare il territorio nelle due p rincipali categorie, possiamo riassumerle nelle due principali: A) Vallate prettamente alpine (ad esempio la Val di Fiemme, la Val di Fassa, la Val di Sole e la Valle di Primiero ), che si a prono ai piedi di complessi montuosi più importanti, segnate da un clima piuttosto rigido, dalla presenza di alcuni ghiacciai e dall'abbondanza di acque .

I TOPONIMI CIMBRI DI CENTA SAN NICOLÒ La storia medievale di Centa San Nicolò presenta un interessante capitolo dedicato all’immigrazione di boscaioli e dissodatori provenienti da aree di lingua tedesca.1 In un documento del 11922 che ha come oggetto il possesso di una fascia montuosa posta “versus Cintam et versus Lavaronem”, si fa riferimento al fatto che i vescovi Adelpreto, Salomone e Alberto (in carica tra il 1156 e il 1188) avevano ricevuto affitti “ab hominibus qui faciebant carbonarias et incidebant ligna in predictis montibus”. Chiamati a Folgaria, a Lavarone e nei paesi limitrofi dai signori di Caldonazzo, questi coloni facevano parte di un più ampio numero di lavoratori che tra il XII e il XIV secolo vennero fatti giungere per dissodare terreni anche in altre zone del Trentino meridionale. Provenienti dall’area bavaro-tirolese, vennero richiamati nelle nostre terre attraverso il vicentino dove, negli stessi anni, stava nascendo quella comunità cosiddetta cimbra3 che adesso è nota con il nome di Sette Comuni vicentini. Nacquero in questo modo anche gli altri stanziamenti cosiddetti cimbri del Trentino, che tante tracce hanno lasciato nella toponomastica di Folgaria, Terragnolo, Trambileno, Vallarsa, Ala (Valle di Ronchi)4 e che hanno ancora adesso in Luserna un’eredità vivente. Fu soprattutto con il principe e vescovo Federico Vanga (1207-1218) che l’immigrazione tedesca si intensificò, interessando in maniera consistente anche il settore minerario. Il 16 febbraio 1216 egli cedette a due cavalieri Odorico e Enrico di Posena (forse Posina, nei Sette Comuni vicentini5) il monte di Costa Cartura, che va da Folgaria fino al covelo di Centa, affinché vi venissero insediate “venti o più corti o masi” e venissero chiamati là nuovi lavoratori (definiti utiles et prudentes laboratores) a dissodare il territorio.
