Its neighbors in the South China Sea include the Philippines, Brunei and Malaysia in the southeast and south. The jurisdiction of Hainan covers Hainan Island, theXisha (Paracel) Islands, theZhongsha (Macclesfield) Islands and the Nansha (Spratly) Islands as well as the surrounding maritime areas, making it the largest province in China in terms of area. Hainan covers a land area (mainly including Hainan Island and Xisha, Zhongsha and NanshaIslands) of 35,400 square km (that of Hainan Island reaching 33,900 square km) and has a maritime area of about 2 million square km. With the outline like an oval snow pear, Hainan Island has a total area of 33,900 square km (excluding the satellite islands), the second largest island only next to Taiwan Island. Qiongzhou Strait, located between Hainan Island and Leizhou Peninsula of Guangdong Province is about 18-nautical-mile wide; while Zengmu Ansha in Nansha Islands is the southernmost territory of China. APPENDIX VII STATUTORY AND GENERAL INFORMATION 1. Further Information about the Bank A. Incorporation In light of the lack of provincial city commercial banks in Gansu province and to promote the economic development of Gansu province, the People’s government of Gansu decided to establish a provincial city commercial bank by building on the foundations of Baiyin City Commercial Bank and Pingliang City Commercial Bank. Therefore, on May 30, 2011, 25 legal entities (including large and medium-sized SOEs in Gansu province and private enterprises within and outside Gansu province) and representatives of all the shareholders of Baiyin City Commercial Bank and Pingliang City Commercial Bank jointly entered into a promoters agreement in respect of Dunhuang Bank Co., Ltd. ( ). Pursuant to the agreement, the 25 legal entities contributed cash and all the shareholders of Baiyin City Commercial Bank and Pingliang City Commercial Bank contributed the appraised net assets of Baiyin City Commercial Bank and Pingliang City Commercial Bank, respectively, to incorporate Dunhuang Bank Co., Ltd.. On August 24, 2011, the General Office of the People’s Government of Gansu Province approved the change to the name of the bank to be incorporated from the former “Dunhuang Bank Co., Ltd.” to “Bank of Gansu Co., Ltd.”. On September 27, 2011, the CBRC approved the establishment of the Bank. On November 18, 2011, the CBRC Gansu Office approved the commencement of business of the Bank and the conversion of Baiyin City Commercial Bank, Pingliang City Commercial Bank and their branches and sub-branches into Baiyin Branch, Pingliang Branch and sub-branches of the Bank. -

Gobi: Space of Flows (Relational analysis) The Gobi Desert is being remade into a space of flows between China and Europe. This is the result of two primary forces: 1. The geopolitical strategy of China to more closely integrate European, Central Asian, and ultimately Middle Eastern economies into its own with the goal of creating an integrated economic zone. 2. The calculations of multinational electronics and automotive companies that are beginning to ship products between China and Europe using overland rail routes that are now faster than sea routes. China is investing billions in new roads, rail, inland ‘ports’, logistics centers, and other infrastructure designed to realize this political project. Logistics companies and electronic firms are also partnering with state-owned rail companies in China, Russia, and Kazakhstan to reduce tariffs, customs processing times, and other bureaucratic obstacles to free trade. These new infrastructures and associated urban nodes are facilitating increased trade flows in products between Europe and China, as well as the increased extraction of raw materials like oil and natural gas. Additionally, the growth of new connective infrastructures are facilitating plans for export zones at border ports and in certain Western Chinese cities like Xi’an, Urumqi, and Lanzhou. These new cities are predicated on attracting investment from high-tech companies and facilitating a transfer of manufacturing and industry from China’s East to China’s west. But until now, most of the growth of manufacturing in the West has been that related to extraction, including oil, coal, and mining. -

Country and Sector Background Public Disclosure Authorized 1. Gansu Province, with its capital of Lanzhou and a total population of 26 million, is located in northwestern China. The economy has traditionally been based on agricultural production, mining of the province’s abundant mineral reserves, and heavy industrial development. Poor infrastructure and Gansu’s distance from the coast, have largely kept it isolated from the rapid development experienced by other provinces in China over the last two decades. As a result, Gansu is the second poorest province in the country, measured by per- capita GDP. Moreover, the province contains some of the country’s poorest communities, as listed on the Government’s national poverty register. 2. A major element of Gansu’s poverty alleviation and economic restructuring strategy is the development of a sustainable tourism industry. -
