Sedum caespitosum (Cav.) DC. – a study concerning the presence of this plant in Oltenia Ioana Simion University of Craiova, “Al. Buia” Botanical Garden, Craiova, Romania. Corresponding author: I. Simion, [email protected] Abstract. The article indicates the presence on the territory of Oltenia of a rare species from Romanian flora - Sedum caespitosum. The species has been identified in the outskirts of Ciupercenii Vechi, in the flooded area of the Danube meadow, in the northeast of Bogdan Island, in the Natura 2000 site ROSCI0039 Ciuperceni-Desa, in April 23 2017. The plant occurs in the beaten and intensely grazed areas, of Cynodonti-Poetum angustifoliae Rapaics ex Soó – subas. medicaginetosum minimae Sanda et al (2001), togheter with Cynodon dactylon, Erodium cicutarium, Medicago minima, Plantago lanceolata, Scleranthus perennis, Veronica hederifolia. It is an annual species, therefore reveals the xerophylic character of the vegetable association in which it is present, but has no role in diagnosis of the association. Key Words: flora, rare plants, ecology, phytocoenology, Oltenia, Romania. Introduction. Sedum caespitosum (Cav.) DC., species of the Crassulaceae family, is a rare plant in Romania's flora, found in the Red list of vascular plants of Romania as rare (R) (Oltean et al 1994). It was described for the first time in 1971 (Cavanilles 1971), a Spanish botanist, under the name Crassula caespitosa, which later became homotypic synonym (Marhold 2011). Augustin Pyramus de Candolle made description under the name Sedum caespitosum in 1828: 405. The most important synonyms of the species are the following: Sedum erythrocarpum Pau, Sedum rubrum (L.) Thell., Tillaea rubra L. (Marhold 2011); Sedum rubro (L.) Thell., Sedum deserti-hungarici Simonkai (Răvăruţ 1956). -

ISEO 5 2019 Book of Abstracts 50TH INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON EssENTIAL OILS September 9th – 12th, Vienna, Austria ISEO 5 2019 Sponsors ISEO 5 2019 Welcome On behalf of the Organizing Committee it is our great pleasure to welcome you to Vienna to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the International Symposium on Essential Oils (ISEO 2019)! Vienna’s history started around 4,000 years ago. Due to its position next to the Danube between the extension of the foothills of the Alps (Wienerwald) in the Southwest and the Hungarian lowlands in the Southeast it has always been a strategically perfect settlement and trading area. Vienna’s old name Vindobona derives from the Celtic language. The Romans built a military camp at the territory of today’s city center during the 1st century and their famous emperor Marcus Aurelius died here in 180 A.D. Later on Vienna became the capital of the Babenberg dynasty and subsequently of the Austrian Habsburgs. Walking around, especially in the first district, you can find archaeological excavations and magnificent buildings everywhere. In 2019 Vienna topped for the 10th year in a row the worldwide Mercer Quality of Living Survey. It is well known for its high quality tap water that directly is being brought to the capital from the mountains by two water conduits with a length of 95 and 183 km, respectively, with no pumps involved. Austria’s capital is the only metropolis worldwide with noteworthy viniculture within the city limits and almost 43% of the city are green space. It is a multicultural melting point in the middle of Europe and its inhabitants are said to have “a heart of gold”. -

ABSTRACT Saponaria pumilio is a tertiary relict and a rare plant in Romania’s flora. In 1993, Stancu, Alexiu and Boúcaiu have integrated the species in Potentillo chrysocraspedae–Festucetum airoidis association. In this paper, we present the coenotaxonomical integration of Saponaria pumilio species in some phytocoenoses and describe the association in terms of taxonomic, of the bioforms, geoelements, caryological, ecological index. We characterized the Potentillo chrysocraspedae– Festucetum airoidis association based on some phytocoenological investigations from Meridional Carpathians. This study revealed some common and differential features of this association, from different places, being drown a similarity dendrogram of the analyzed relevés. INTRODUCTION Saponaria pumilio is an herbaceous species from Caryophyllaceae family. It is a perennial herb, with shorter stems, forming dense, large cushions. Flowers are large and pink with a tubular calyx. Seeds are 1.0–1.5 mm diameter and have no capacity for dispersal over long distances. Generally, the species vegetate on skeletal, siliceous soils. It is taxonomically isolated and occurs dispersed in the Eastern Alps (Italy, Austria) and Romanian Carpathians (Iezer-Păpuúa and Făgăraú Massif) (Ciocârlan, 2000; Stancu et al, 1993). The distribution of Potentillo chrysocraspedae–Festucetum airoidis association is between 1750 m and 2244 m altitude. This association forms compact layers on gentle slopes from alpine and sub-alpine regions and vegetates on less deep soils, from very acid to slightly acid, often rich in humus, formed on the crystalline or calcareous substrate.
