The following information is to help with your travel arrangements for attending the BUFDG Annual Conference 2018 at the . By setting out our intentions regarding transfers and shuttle services at this stage, we hope that you are able to make an informed choice about your travel to the event. LOCATION This year’s conference will be held at the University of Hull, Cottingham Rd, Hull, HU6 7RX. However, please note that all directions are to the Premier Inn Hull City Centre (Tower Street, Hull, HU9 1TQ), where the vast majority of delegates will be accommodated. On Sunday 25th March, this will also be the venue for registration (13:00-18:00), so we recommend that delegates arriving by car travel directly to their hotel (directions below) where parking will be available. GETTING THERE We would encourage conference attendees to use the most sustainable mode(s) of transport where possible.

BY TRAIN/ SHUTTLES is an integrated railway and bus station and is the main railway station serving the city of Hull. It is operated by Transpennine Express, and also served by , Northern Rail and .

We will be offering shuttle bus transfers during conference registration times (13:00-18:00) on Sunday. These will not be running directly from the station due to stopping restrictions, but from the DoubleTree by Hilton which is a short walk from the train station (less than five minutes). Therefore, shuttles will be running between the DoubleTree by Hilton and the Premier Inn Hull City Centre (for registration), and then from the Premier Inn Hull City Centre to the University on Sunday evening (for the Informal Dinner), Monday and Tuesday (for the conference sessions). The shuttle bus from the DoubleTree by Hilton to the Premier Inn Hull City Centre will take approximately 10 minutes, and the shuttle from the Premier Inn Hull City Centre to the University should take around 15 minutes. WALKING The University is not within advised walking distance from the train station. The Premier Inn Hull City Centre is approximately a 25-minute walk from the station, or you can just jump on the shuttle bus at the DoubleTree by Hilton which then stops at the Premier Inn Hull City Centre hotel. • Walk south on Ferensway/A1079 (49ft), slight left towards Ferensway/A1079 (66ft), then slight right towards Ferensway/A1079 (0.3m) • Slight left onto Mytongate/A63 (39ft), then slight right to stay on Mytongate/A63 (112ft) • Turn left onto Castle Street/A63, then turn left onto Street • Turn right at High Street, turn left towards Tower Street and take the stairs • Turn left onto Tower Street and go through 1 roundabout • Premier Inn will be on the right Hull Paragon Interchange Station to DoubleTree by Hilton HU2 8NH (approx. 5 minutes) • Walk north on Ferensway/A1079 towards Margaret Moxon Way • Turn left onto Pearson St • DoubleTree by Hilton will be on the right

BY AIR Bradford Airport is Hull’s closest main airport, and takes approximately 1 hour 40 minutes to drive to Hull City Centre via the M62. Alternatively, the Flying Tiger bus service, departing from the Bus Point, will take you to the Leeds City Square Stop (35-minute journey) where you can walk a couple of minutes to Leeds Station. From here you can get a Transpennine Express train to Hull Paragon Interchange station. The total journey time is approximately 1 hour 50 minutes.

Travelling from Doncaster Sheffield Airport (formerly Robin Hood) to Hull:

• Doncaster Sheffield Airport is 51 miles west of Hull on the M18 and M62 motorways. • A National Express coach service runs from Doncaster Frenchgate Interchange which is 20-minute drive from the airport. The coach is then a 1-hour drive directly to Hull. • You can also get a bus from Terminal Stand 1 to Doncaster where you will need to walk 5 minutes to the train station. From here you can catch a direct train to Hull Paragon Interchange, the complete journey will take 1 hour 50 minutes.

BY ROAD Hull is easily accessible via the motorway network and sits at the Eastern end of the M62.

The Premier Inn Hull City Centre, has over 100 free, on-site car parking spaces but these are subject to availability.
