Any reference to the National Rail Conditions of Carriage on websites, Tickets, publications etc. refers to these National Rail Conditions of Travel. Part A: A summary of the Conditions The terms and conditions of these National Rail Conditions of Travel are set out below in Part C to Part H (the “Conditions”). They comprise the binding contract that comes into effect between you and the Train Companies1 that provide scheduled rail services on the National Rail Network, when you purchase a Ticket. This summary provides a quick overview of the key responsibilities of Train Companies and passengers contained in the contract. It is important, however, that you read the Conditions if you want a full understanding of the responsibilities of Train Companies and passengers. -

60163 TORNADO New Steam for the Main Line Thursday 28th April 2011 Dear fellow covenantor Changes to Tornado’s 2011 tours diary and Brunswick Green unveiling at the National Railway Museum There have been a number of developments since the enclosed edition of The Communication Cord went to press that the Trustees of The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust need to share with you. We regret that it has not been possible to reach an acceptable working arrangement with Train Operating Company West Coast Railways in spite of many attempts over the past three years. Tornado will continue to be operated on the Network Rail main line by DB Schenker, which has worked successfully with the Trust since the locomotive’s completion in 2008. This change is unrelated to the recently completed repairs to Tornado’s boiler which took place at DB Meiningen. Unfortunately, this late change will result in a significant re-working of Tornado’s tours diary for the early part of the summer. As a consequence of not being able to work with West Coast Railways, Tornado will not now be hauling ‘The Cathedrals Express’ on Thursday 26th May (London to Bath & Bristol and return), Saturday 4th June (London King's Cross to York and return) and Saturday 11th June (London to Shrewsbury and return) promoted by Steam Dreams. The promoter will be in contact separately with those of you who originally booked on ‘The White Rose’ and transferred to ‘The Cathedrals Express on 4th June. Although Tornado will be ready for traffic for 26th May, her first main line train in her new Brunswick Green livery will now be ‘The Canterbury Tornado’ on Saturday 18th June from Poole (Tornado from Willesden) to Canterbury and return promoted by Pathfinder. -

2019/1013 Applicant: National Grid Description: Planning application for National Grid's Visual Impact Provision (VIP) project involving the following works:1) Construction of a new sealing end compound, including permanent access; 2) Construction of a temporary haul road from Brook Hill Lane including widened bellmouth; 3) Construction of a temporary Trans Pennine Trail Diversion to be used for approximately 12 - 18 months; following construction approximately 410m of said diversion surface would be retained permanently; and 4) Erection of two bridges (one temporary and one permanent) along the Trans Pennine Trail diversion Site Address: Land off Brook Hill Lane, Dunford Bridge, Barnsley, Sheffield Site Description The site stretches from Dunford Bridge in the Peak District National Park to Wogden Foot LWS approximately 1.8km to the east. With the exception of the sealing end compounds at either end, the site is linear and broadly follows the route of the Trans Pennine Trail (TPT). At Dunford Bridge the site extends to the former rail tunnel entrance and includes the existing sealing end compound located behind properties on Don View. Beyond this is the TPT car park and the TPT itself which is a former rail line running from Dunford Bridge to Penistone; now utilised as a bridleway. The site takes in land adjacent the TPT along which a temporary diverted bridleway route is proposed. In addition, Wogden Foot, a Local Wildlife Site (LWS) located 1.8km to the east is included (in part) as the proposed location of a new sealing end compound; construction access to this from Windle Edge also forms part for the application. -

A copy of your approved DPPP is attached to this letter, and will be published on our website along with a copy of this letter. I confirm that we have reviewed your DPPP against the 2009 Guidance “How to write your Disabled People’s Protection Policy: A guide for Train and Station Operators” (the Guidance) and can confirm that your revised DPPP meets the requirements of Condition 5 of your station licence and GB Statement of National Regulatory Provisions: Passenger (SNRP). We welcome the following, which we believe are likely to be positive for passengers: Your commitment to reduced timescales for assistance booking to two hours for passengers making direct journeys between two of your own managed stations1; The provision of free car parking for blue badge holders; and Your use of assistance cards, which allow passengers with communication difficulties and hidden disabilities to communicate their assistance needs to staff. Since your DPPP was originally submitted to ORR we have had several exchanges in the intervening period in order to bring about the changes required to make it fully compliant with the Guidance. 1 We recognise that you have not been able to secure the introduction of a 2-hour notice period for booked assistance travelling on your services to or from Northern and Network Rail managed stations, as envisaged in your franchise agreement, and that this is the subject of franchise variation discussions with Rail North; if this situation changes, we would expect a revised DPPP to be submitted to us for consideration. -

By Mark Parry With the proposed trans-Pennine high speed line being supported, we feared the upgrade of the existing line had been quietly forgotten. CAMPAIGNERS in West Yorkshire are extremely concerned about lack of progress by the Government and Network Rail on infrastructure proposals that should deliver improvements for travellers in the next few years, including the TransPennine Route Upgrade (TRU). Three rail user groups and the Yorkshire Branch of Railfuture have written to Andrew Haines, Chief Executive of Network Rail, who was recently been quoted as casting doubt on TRU. In a magazine interview (RAIL 897, 29 Jan’2020) Haines had said the scope of TRU could depend on the high-speed rail proposal “Northern Powerhouse Rail” (NPR). The campaigners say NPR is decades away and will not benefit stations on regional routes that desperately need investment now. Atkins has been commissioned by the A6 Corridor Group led by Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council (SMBC) and comprising representatives from Cheshire East Council, Derbyshire County Council, High Peak Borough Council, and Transport for Greater Manchester, to undertake a study to consider the potential impact of predicted traffic growth and demands on public transport within the A6 Corridor (Buxton to Stockport / Manchester) over the next twenty years. Peak District National Park Authority has been consulted during the course of the study. 2. The study is undertaken against the backdrop of plans for housing growth in the corridor, the proposed A6 to Manchester Airport Relief Road (A6MARR) scheme, and the wider South East Manchester Multi Modal Strategy (SEMMMS).
