Driffield School 2021 & Sixth Form Prospectus Believe • Achieve Welcome to Driffield School & Sixth Form Since taking up post as Executive Principal of Driffield School & Sixth Form in April 2018, I have been delighted by the friendly and supportive nature of the students, parents and staff. The school has enormous potential and I look forward to welcoming your child to the school at such an exciting time. At Driffield School & Sixth Form, we recognise that choosing a school for your child is a crucial decision and we take our responsibilities very seriously when parents entrust their child’s education and care to us. We will do everything we can to ensure that every individual child receives the care, support and guidance they need to thrive. A copy of your approved DPPP is attached to this letter, and will be published on our website along with a copy of this letter. I confirm that we have reviewed your DPPP against the 2009 Guidance “How to write your Disabled People’s Protection Policy: A guide for Train and Station Operators” (the Guidance) and can confirm that your revised DPPP meets the requirements of Condition 5 of your station licence and GB Statement of National Regulatory Provisions: Passenger (SNRP). We welcome the following, which we believe are likely to be positive for passengers: Your commitment to reduced timescales for assistance booking to two hours for passengers making direct journeys between two of your own managed stations1; The provision of free car parking for blue badge holders; and Your use of assistance cards, which allow passengers with communication difficulties and hidden disabilities to communicate their assistance needs to staff. Since your DPPP was originally submitted to ORR we have had several exchanges in the intervening period in order to bring about the changes required to make it fully compliant with the Guidance. 1 We recognise that you have not been able to secure the introduction of a 2-hour notice period for booked assistance travelling on your services to or from Northern and Network Rail managed stations, as envisaged in your franchise agreement, and that this is the subject of franchise variation discussions with Rail North; if this situation changes, we would expect a revised DPPP to be submitted to us for consideration. -

The Academy comprises Hessle High School and Sixth Form College and Penshurst Primary School. The Hessle Academy is a founding member of The Consortium Academy Trust, a fast-growing Multi- Academy Trust, formed in 2017. The Academy, located in the East Riding of Yorkshire, primarily serves the East Riding town of Hessle and some parts of West Hull. This was recognised by Ofsted in our most recent inspection in September 2018, when the achievement of students, quality of teaching, behaviour and personal development of students and leadership and management and the Early Years Foundation Stage were all judged to be good. In recent years, outcomes for students have been consistently above average in terms of attainment and progress. -

‘First Story is an inspiring initiative... It’s a joyful project that deserves as much support as we can give it.’ Zadie Smith IMPACT REPORT 2018–19 MISSION We’re working towards a society that encourages and supports young people from all backgrounds to write creatively, for pleasure and agency. We tackle inequality of opportunity by providing extra-curricular enrichment programmes for students from less advantaged backgrounds. Our programmes expand horizons and encourage aspirations. Participants gain the skills and confidence to thrive in education and in life. INTRODUCTION In 2018–19, thousands of young people from less advantaged backgrounds benefited from participation in our extra- curricular enrichment programmes, developing in confidence, creativity and ability. I joined as Chief Executive at the end of 2018–19, but I’m no less proud of the achievements highlighted in this report. Huge thanks to all those who contributed to, and made possible, our work during the year; not least the 1,565 young people who took part in our intensive workshops whose voices were amplified and celebrated in the pages of our 71 published anthologies.
