Leagues Competitions Overview Leagues’ Competitions Overview SEASON 2021/22 01 Leagues’ Competitions Overview SEASON 2021/22 FOREWORD League Football is back! In the middle of a summer rich of sport events with Euro 2020 finally cheered by the public in the stadiums and the Olympic Games successfully delivered in Tokyo, the football arenas are ready to welcome back fans and players for an exciting new season of domestic club football. We are glad to present to the whole football community this Leagues’ Competitions Overview, a document which contains - country by country- all key competition elements of our Member Leagues. During the past years, a few Leagues have presented innovations in their Competition Formats which we are happy to display in this report. Fans across Europe can now enjoy traditional league formats but also championships with new and creative competition systems with the introduction of play-off & play-out mechanisms which generate more compelling and interesting final parts of the season for their participating clubs, whether to win the title or to qualify for a European ticket but also to gain the permanence in the top division or its access. Other innovations are related to the introduction of new Kick-Off Times over the weekend to match the interests of a growing international audience and those of broadcasting and other commercial partners. And of course, the report provides insights on the Calendar and Players’ Transfer Windows for the approaching season for both all our summer and winter leagues. The Calendar for the upcoming 2020/21 season appears rich of games but also quite congested as we are approaching 2022 - the year with the FIFA World Cup in November/December – with its unusual and highly debated schedule which will impact domestic league football calendars for more than a season. To conclude, a big round of applause to our Members and their dedicated staff for their continuous effort in improving their organisational standards while implementing new operational protocols during this challenging Covid period. The European Leagues are ready to deliver an exciting new season to millions of football fans across the globe. We wish you all an exciting season! BORÅS ARENA LÖRDAG 1 MAJ 13:00 NORRBY IF vs LANDSKRONA BOIS FREDRIK LUNDGREN HAR ORDET Norrby IF, vilken härlig förening. Foto: Per Aronsson. The win/profit maximization debate: Strategic adaptation as the answer? Abstract Purpose – The purpose of this paper is twofold. First, to highlight the heterogeneity of the organizational aims within the professional football teams in Ligue 1. Second, to understand why some teams swing from a win orientation toward a soft budget constraint from year to year, and vice versa. Design/methodology/approach – Financial data from annual reports for the period 2005/06 – 2014/15 was collected for the 35 Ligue 1 clubs. To define the compliance degree of the intended strategy of those clubs, an efficiency analysis was conducted thanks to the data envelopment analysis (DEA) method. This performance measure was supplemented with the identification of productivity and demand shocks to build a theoretical model. It allow to precise nature of the evolution of the win/profit tension in the utility function related to the gap expectation/performance. Findings – The paper suggests that a team can switch from one archetype to another from year to year due to the stochastic nature of the sport industry. The club director’s utility function could also be maximized under an intertemporal budget function to adjust the weight between win and profit according to the opportunities in the environment. Originality/value – The paper shed new light on the win/profit maximization.

Tribunal Arbitral du Sport Court of Arbitration for Sport Arbitration CAS 2015/A/4351 Vsl Pakruojo FK, Darius Jankauskas, Arnas Mikaitis, Sigitas Olberkis, Valdas Pocevicius, Alfredas Skroblas, Donatas Strockis, Diogo Gouveia Miranda, C.H. Alexandru and Taras Michailiuk v. Lithuanian Football Federation (LFF), award of 13 July 2016 Panel: Prof. Luigi Fumagalli (Italy), President; Mr Sofoklis Pilavios (Greece); Mr José Juan Pintó (Spain) Football Match fixing CAS jurisdiction Applicable regulation to a match fixing infringement Burden of proof regarding actual and presumed commission of match fixing Establishment of a finding of presumed commission of match fixing De novo hearing Proportionality of the sanctions 1. As made clear by the applicable disciplinary regulations of the federation, jurisdiction is granted to CAS only with respect to the decisions rendered by the federation’s appeal committee. In addition, the CAS jurisprudence, based on the wording of Article R47 of the Code, made it clear that the exhaustion of internal remedies is one of conditions for the CAS jurisdiction to exist. CAS would not have jurisdiction to hear an appeal (therefore to be deemed inadmissible) brought against the disciplinary body decision alone. However, where the disciplinary body decision is challenged together with the appeal committee decision, which dealt with the same issues, the CAS has jurisdiction to hear the dispute concerning the disciplinary infringements for which the appellants were sanctioned, as defined by the appealed decisions. 2. PHYSICAL CULTURE AND SPORT. STUDIES AND RESEARCH DOI: 10.1515/pcssr-2016-0015 The Open Sore of Football: Aggressive Violent Behavior and Hooliganism Authors’ contribution: Osman GumusgulA,C,D, Mehmet AcetB,E A) conception and design of the study B) acquisition of data Dumlupinar University, Turkey C) analysis and interpretation of data D) manuscript preparation E) obtaining funding ABSTRACT Aggression and violence have been a customary part of life that mankind has had to live with from the beginning of time; it has been accepted by society even though it expresses endless negativity. Aggression and violence can find a place in sports events and football games because of the social problems of the audience watching the competitions or games, which sometimes fall into the category of hooliganism. Turkey is one of the countries that should consider this problem to be a serious social problem. Even during 2014 and 2015, a relatively short period of time, there were significant hazardous acts committed by hooligans. In February 2014, one supporter was killed after a game between Liverpool and Arsenal in England; in March 2014, a game between Trabzonspor and Fenerbahce was left half-finished because of violent acts in the stadium that caused players in the pitch to believe that they could not leave stadium alive, although they finally left after a few hours; in another incident in March 2014, one supporter was killed after a game between Helsingborg and Djugarden in Sweden; in November 2014, one supporter was killed and 14 supporters were injured before the game between Atletico Madrid and Deportivo in Spain.
