For over a decade, the CPCC has represented copyright holders before the Copyright Board of Canada. The Board establishes the levies that may be collected after trial-like hearings where experts, representing music rights holders and organizations that represent consumers and businesses that sell leviable blank media, present evidence and are cross-examined. The private copying levy has been an important part of the Canadian copyright regime since 1999, when the first private copying tariff was certified by the Copyright Board, following amendments made to the Copyright Act (the “Act”) in 1997 to allow for a levy to be placed on blank audio recording media. Currently, the levy only applies to blank CDs and MiniDiscs, at a rate of 29 cents per unit, and is paid by manufacturers and importers of these blank media to the CPCC for distribution to rights holders. The private copying levy has provided an effective mechanism whereby consumers are allowed to make copies of music for their personal use without infringing copyright and, in exchange, music creators receive royalties that recognize the value of private copies of their work.

ENDINO'S EARTHWORM “UNEARTHED” Liner Notes BANDCAMP EXCLUSIVE: Released November 6, 2020 COMPLETE REMIX/RESTORATION of my semi-obscure 2nd solo record from 1992, intended as a follow-up and continuation of Angle Of Attack (1989), plus a half-hour's worth of bonus tracks from the same creative period, 1985-1996. With hindsight I later realized Jim Blanchard's cover art was better than the music, because my engineering and original mixes were not great. But this has now been remedied! Restoring this was quite a journey. I even had Jim update the cover art, because it's kind of a new record now. I hope you enjoy it. Recorded by Jack Endino at Studio Endino, Reciprocal Recording, Hanzsek Audio, Private Radio, and the Crocodile. Remixed and mastered 2020 by JE. -- Guitar & Vocs: Jack Endino, except on "Edge Of Unease" the guitar is Greg Gilmore. -- Drums: Barrett Martin, Greg Gilmore, "Matt C", Jack. -- Bass: Rob Skinner, Pat Pedersen, Daniel House, Jack. -- Misc percussion: Barrett, Greg, Jack. -- Cover art: Jim Blanchard (1992 orig, updated 2020). THE SONGS 01 How Much Time REMIX -- Recorded by Jack and Rich Hinklin (that's him saying "you're rolling") on 1-inch 16-track at Reciprocal, Dec 1989. Remixed 2020. This is drummer Barrett Martin's earliest released performance! He joined Skin Yard right after we did this session (also songs 2, 3 and 5). Jack - Guitar/vocals, Barrett Martin - drums, Rob Skinner - bass. Written by Jack (BMI). 02 Talk Yourself Blind REMIX -- Recorded by Jack and Rich Hinklin on 1-inch 16- track at Reciprocal, Dec 1989.
