Opening by the chairman Mr. S. Wada. The meeting is opened by the chairman. 2. Presentation about marketing of flowers and plants. A presentation was given by Ms. Annabet Penning (FloraHolland) about the role and position of FloraHolland in the Dutch supply chain and the marketing. 3. Minutes of the meeting March 29, 2012, Antalya. (Annex 1). The minutes are approved of without any remarks. 4. Incoming items, correspondence and announcements. 4.1. AIPH members are invited to consider participation in all approved exhibitions (see calendar at www.AIPH.org ). 4.2. An application letter was received to organize an exhibition in Beijing in 2019. (Annex 2). A presentation is given at item 7 of this agenda. 5. Exhibitions: questionnaires and caution fees. 5.1. Caution fee was received for the Niagara 2017 international exhibition. 5.2. Zaragoza withdrew the exhibition 2016. The marketing committee decides to advice Council to reimburse 50% of the caution fee. 5.3. The caution fee as regards the Beijing 2019 application has been received. 6. Exhibitions: final reports. 6.1. A final report is still expected from Euroflora 2011 (April) in Genoa, Italy. 6.2. A final report is expected from Buga 2011, Koblenz. With 3.5 million visitors this exhibition was a great success. 6.3. A final report was received from Xi’an International Horticultural Exhibition 2011 (Annex 2A). First installment of the gate fee was received; final calculations recently were agreed upon. The second payment will be received shortly. Ms. Kong distributes copies of the final report on CD; a hard copy is handed over to the SG. 20% of the caution fee can be reimbursed. 6.4. A final report from Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2011/2012 will be given at item 7 of this agenda. Gate fee is received. After approval of the final report 20% of the caution fee can be reimbursed. 1/3 7. Exhibitions: progress reports and decisions. 7.1. Niagara World Garden Event 2017 (A2/B1), Niagara, Canada. (Application) Several participants of the delegation presented the approach, set up and development of this expo. After consideration the committee will positively advise Council under the condition of a positive site inspection. 7.2. World Horticultural Exposition 2019 Beijing (A1), China. (Application) A presentation is given about the design, location and set up of this A1 exhibition. After consideration the committee will positively advise Council under the condition of a positive site inspection. 7.3. 2018/2019 Taichung International Gardening and Horticulture Exposition (A2/B1), Taichung, Chinese Taipei. (Application) A presentation was given about the ideas for this Exposition After consideration the committee will positively advise Council under the condition of a positive site inspection. 7.4. Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2011/2012 (A2/B1), Chiang Mai, Thailand. A final report was presented. 2.2 million visitors came to this expo. A more detailed set of data will become available. A hard copy of the final report will be sent to each AIPH member. There is positive advice to reimburse 20% of the caution fee. 7.5. Floriade 2012 (A1), Venlo, the Netherlands. (Approved) The official opening was on April 4th, 2012. The park is very nice and highly appreciated. Closing ceremony will be on October 7. 7.6. Botanica 2013-2014 (A2/B1), Malaysia. (Withdrawal) Malaysia terminated their membership and cancelled this exhibition. The remainder of the (former) caution fee was used to pay the membership fee. 7.7. Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo, 2013 (A2/B1), Korea. (Approved) A progress report is presented; over 70% of the construction work is done. Participation of AIPH members is welcomed. The design of the AIPH indoor garden (or pavilion) is shown. 7.8. Qingdao Exposition 2014 (A2/B1), China. (Approved) An update report was received by the secretariat. 7.9. Antalya 2016 (A1), Turkey. (Approved) The progress was reported to the committee. Necessary legislation is in process. 7.10. Tangshan International Horticultural Exposition 2016 (A2/B1), China. (Approved). An update report was received by the secretariat. 7.11. IGA 2017 (A1), Berlin, Germany. (Application) At the moment discussions about the status and application are not finished. 7.12. Floriade 2022, (A1) the Netherlands. (Application) In Antalya this application was placed on the provisional calendar. Shortly before the closing of the Floriade 2012 the city/region for 2022 will be announced. 8. Final and provisional calendar. (Annex 5). See www.AIPH.org Exhibitions Actual Programme for the updated calendar. 9. Any other business. It is requested to have more details in the final reports about economic benefits. Furthermore it is noted that in several cases the quality of international gardens is very poor and country names are used without the knowing of the AIPH member. 2/3 It is proposed to allocate more time to the presentations and to consider a whole day for the marketing committee meeting. 10. Next meeting. Items for the Spring Meeting 2013 can be those listed at 9 of this minutes. 11. Closure. The chair closes the meeting. 3/3 .

Inleiding De Floriade is het grootste evenement met betalende bezoekers van Nederland en tevens de enige door de BIE (Bureau International des Exposition, Paris) erkende wereldtentoonstelling, welke elke 10 jaar in ons land plaats vindt. De afgelopen 34 jaar is ondergetekende in diverse functies betrokken geweest bij de Floriades 1982, 1992, 2002 en 2012. Mede op basis van deze ervaring is dit document opgesteld. Het doel van het document is een beter inzicht te geven in de problematieken welke spelen met betrekking tot de organisatie van een Floriade en hoe deze worden veroorzaakt.

De Floriade is een internationale wereldtuinbouwtentoonstelling, waarbij de samenhang van economische, ecologische en sociale aspecten van de tuinbouw de dragers vormen. Op basis daarvan wordt de promotie van de Nederlandse tuinbouw gerealiseerd met als doel het imago van de Nederlandse tuinbouwsector in Nederland en daarbuiten te optimaliseren en de afzet van Nederlandse tuinbouwproducten in en buiten Nederland te bevorderen. De Floriade is een vernieuwende toekomstgerichte manifestatie met internationale allure. Door het internationale karakter zullen er ook in ruime mate inzenders vanuit andere landen zijn. Voor wie? De Floriade wordt gehouden ten behoeve van contacten van de Nederlandse tuinbouw met: 1. consumenten in binnen- en buitenland: business-to-consumer; 2. (inter)nationale toeleveranciers en afnemers: business-to-business; 3. overheid en burger in Nederland: business-to-community. Met wie? De Nederlandse tuinbouwsector werkt zoveel mogelijk samen met partijen waarmee een gemeenschappelijk belang wordt gedeeld (tuinbouwbedrijven en overheden) teneinde de beoogde effecten van de Floriade te realiseren.

Bajo el tema Por unos océanos y costas vivos: diversidad de recursos y actividades sostenibles, la ciudad de Yeosu (en la costa meridional de Corea del Sur) acoge del 12 de mayo al 12 de agosto de 2012 una nueva exposición internacional tras Expo Zaragoza 2008. El tema global de mares y océanos es el argumento en torno al cual se desarrollan los contenidos de Expo Yeosu 2012, en la que participan 106 países. En las 25 hectáreas del recinto, Yeosu alberga un gran foro de debate sobre la preservación de nuestros mares y océanos como fuentes de vida y de riqueza.     Floriade: een spiegel van de tijdgeest ‘Mister Floriade’. Zo kun je Michiel gerust noemen. Niet alleen was hij hoofdontwerper van de Floriade in 1992 in Zoetermeer, door de jaren heen heeft hij zich ook grondig verdiept in deze en andere nationale maar vooral internationale tentoonstellingen. Momenteel doet hij zelfs een promotieonder- zoek naar wereldtentoonstellingen. Voor de aanloop naar de Floriades duikt Mi- chiel een flink eind terug in de tijd. 1796 is het eerste jaartal dat hij noemt. De eerste nationa- le expositie in Frankrijk, vertelt hij. Ook daarna worden volgende edities in met name dat land gehouden. De nationale exposities vormen de opstap naar de internationale, de zogenaamde wereldtentoonstellingen. Engeland, koploper in de industriële ontwikkeling, organiseert in 1851 de eerste. In het Londense Hyde Park schetsen diverse landen een beeld van hun economsche, sociale, culturele en technische ontwikkeling. Deze en volgende wereldtentoon- stellingen leveren landmarks op als het Crystal Palace in Londen, de Eiffeltoren in Parijs en het Atomium in Brussel. Toezicht op frequentie De wereldtentoonstellingen zijn zo’n succes dat in 1928 een bureau wordt opgericht dat toezicht moet gaan houden op de inhoud en frequentie van de tentoonstellingen. Dit Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) hanteert twee typen tentoonstellingen: in- ternationale met een zeer brede invulling (A-categorie) en thematische (B-categorie). Jaarlijks mogen er maximaal één A- en één B-wereldtentoonstelling worden gehouden Floriade 1960, Rotterdam. en een land mag niet vaker dan eens in de tien jaar een wereldtentoonstelling organise- ren.
