The BIC was designed to provide representation for the various communities, which interact with the Building Department. The seven different commission slots are filled by a structural engineer, a licensed architect, a residential tenant, a residential builder, a residential landlord, a community based non-profit housing developer, and a member of the general public at large. The BIC appoints the Director of DBI, sets policy, hears various appeals on issues leading up to the issuance of building permits, sits as the Abatement Appeals Noelle Hanrahan – Vice-President (07/05 – 01/06) Board to hear appeals of Director’s Orders of Abatement, and provides a Residential Landlord Seat public forum through their bi-monthly meetings. The Committee continues to meet on a monthly basis, permanent Director. Commissioner Walker volunteered Ordinance. to serve on the Committee along with existing members, Commissioners Lee & Romero. ❖ Elected Commissioner Debra Walker as President and Frank Lee as the Commission’s Vice-President. ❖ Held Sub-Committee Meetings to review applications of candidates to serve on the Access Appeals Commission (AAC), Board of Examiners (BOE), Code Advisory Committee (CAC) and the Unreinforced Masonry Appeals Board (UMB). ❖ The Director Search Committee held three meetings to discuss criteria, as well as strategize actions for hiring a permanent Director for DBI. ❖ The Commission made several appointments and reappointments to the AAC & UMB. ❖ Adopted the 2004 recommended changes to the San Francisco Electrical Code. ❖ Approved a contract between the City & County of San Francisco & American Legal Publishing Corp. to publish DBI’s Building, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Housing Codes. 6 2005-2006 DBI Annual Report Building Inspection Commission ❖ Presentation by the Department of Telecommunications and Information Services (DTIS) and the Gartner Consulting Group regarding DBI’s New Permit Tracking System. ❖ Heard a staff presentation and public testimony regarding the 2006 Cost Schedule
