The CO2 emissions from power generation expansion plans (PGEPs) are also evaluated. The PGEPs of CO2 reduction targets of 20% and 40% emissions are also evaluated. Since 2008 Thai government has proposed the Alternative Energy Development Plan (AEDP) for renewable energy utilization. Results from energy efficiency measures indicate total cost saving of 1.34% and cumulative CO2 emission reduction of 59 Mt-CO2 in 2030 when compared to the business-as-usual (BAU) scenario. It was found that subsidies in the AEDP will promote renewable energy utilization and provide substantial CO2 mitigation. As a co-benefit, fuel import vulnerability can be improved by 27.31% and 14.27% for CO2 reduction targets of 20% and 40%, respectively.     AIP GEN 3.2-1 THAILAND 30 MAR 17 GEN 3.2 AERONAUTICAL CHARTS 3.2.1 Responsible services 3.2.1.1 The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand provides a wide range of aeronautical charts for use by all types of civil aviation.     8 An Ally at the Crossroads: Thailand in the US Alliance System Kitti Prasirtsuk In the second decade of the 21st century, the United States is increasingly finding itself in a difficult situation on several fronts. The economic turbulence ushered in by the Subprime Crisis of 2008 led to long-term adverse effects on the US economy. This economic crisis has signified the relative decline of Western supremacy, as the economic difficulties have been lengthy and particularly spread to the Eurozone, the recovery of which is even more delayed than that of the United States. In terms of security, the War on Terror turned out to be a formidable threat, as demonstrated in the form of extremist terrorism wrought under the banner of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), which is now involving more people and is spreading beyond the Middle East. Europe’s immigrant crisis is also giving the West a headache. The rise of China insists that the United States has to recalibrate its strategy in managing allies and partner countries in East Asia. The ‘pivot’, or rebalancing, towards Asia, as framed under the US administration of Barack Obama since 2011, is a case in point. While tensions originating from the Cold War remain a rationale to keep US alliances intact in North-East Asia, this is less the case in South-East Asia, particularly in Thailand and the Philippines, both of which are traditional US allies. While American troops have remained in both Japan and Korea, they withdrew from the Philippines in 1992. The withdrawal from Thailand happened in 1976 following the end of the Vietnam War.

This is in line with growth in the tourism sector. A support from the Thai government on the tourism contributed to such growth. As a consequence, a number of tourists travelling to Thailand increases, especially for Chinese tourists. The rapid expansion of low cost airlines leads to the price competition. This benefits to passengers due to cheaper air fares and the diversity of flight routes. Moreover, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has removed Thailand from the list of significant safety concerns. As a result, Thai airlines can expand its service and increase the number of flights. This is positive to both aviation industry and the overall economy. For the year ended September 30 th , 2018, the air traffic volume from six airports under the Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) was 874,999 flights, a 6.24% increase comparing to last year. It comprised 462,225 international flights and 412,774 domestic flights. The total number of passengers was 139.52 million, a 7.99% increase comparing to last year. It comprised 80.49 million international passengers and 59.03 million domestic passengers which mainly from the increase in international flights and passengers.

Whether at the sleepy town of Lamphun or the famed ruins of Sukhothai, the ancient origins of Thai art and culture can still be seen. A distinct Thai culture thrives in northern Thailand.
