Sometimes Sunny! Sometimes Windy! Sometimes Rainy! You teach us that Change is the Only Permanent thing in the World. You Stood as the Dictator, by Your Heavy down pour cancelling Matches. We yearn for The Showers now. Why this Punishment?! not even able to Sense the Scent of the Scanty Rainfall? „Petrichor‟ – the smell of the Soil after Rain. The Meaning seems new to many. We Fear, in the forthcoming years the term „Water‟ too, will seem new to the New Generation. Will there become a situation like, Water! Water! Water! only in paper and Only in Elite Homes and in Ration Shops? 1 | P a g e Insight 2017 Rectify the Mistakes – Otherwise The Riverbeds‟ names will be changed permanently as Sahara I, Sahara II, .... P. Devaraj II M.A English Literature 5 | P a g e Insight 2017 A POSITIVE WORLD The uniqueness of the poem is that it turns a pessimistic view of the world into something hopeful and optimistic if only we care to look at it in a different way. I am a part of a lost generation And I refuse to believe that I can change the world I realise this may be a shock but “Happiness comes from within” Is a lie, and “Money will make me happy” So in 30 years I will tell my children They are not the most important thing in my life My employers know that I have my priorities straight because Work Is more important than Family If I tell you this Once upon a time Families stayed together But this will not be true in my era This is a quick fix society Experts tell me 6 | P a g e Insight 2017 30 years from now, I will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of my divorce I cannot concede that I will live in a country of my own making In the future Environmental destruction will be the norm No longer can it be said that My peers and I care about this Earth It will be evident that My generation is apathetic and lethargic It is foolish to presume that There is Hope.
