It was through the counselling process I came to understand that I was in a psychologically and emotionally (and financially) abusive relationship and that my depression had been induced by the woman I’d fallen in love with and whom I believed loved me. I was a male victim of domestic abuse. To compound matters, as I fell more and more in love with her, or at least the person she pretended to be, I trusted her with my insecurities from past relationship experiences, even confiding her that I recognised that I was the ‘common denominator’ in a string of failed relationships. She then used that information to psychologically and emotionally destroy me. It was during this time I became familiar with the term ‘gaslighting’ having stumbled on it during an online search. When the ‘relationship’ ended and I’d come through the worst, I began writing of my experiences at the hands of my abuser which I’d intended to do anonymously in order to help others, particularly men, for whom there is negligible help and who might not realise they are in an abusive relationship. One day, seeing her in the street, I froze for about 30 seconds. It was my first ever bout of Post Traumatic Stress which was ironic given that I’m an ex-soldier with 25 years served in the British Army. As I researched domestic abuse or domestic violence ‘DV’ as it’s largely coined and wrote and reflected, I came another conclusion; this hadn’t been the first abusive female partner I’d been with. I needed to understand why and having been so inspired by the counselling process, I started a certificate counselling course at The University of Strathclyde in September 2016 to primarily to help abused men who were ‘reluctant’ to talk of their experiences. Fortunately the course brought home to me plausible explanations based in childhood for my repeated cycles of failed relationships and for which I hope I’ve explained well enough in this book I’ve written as a contemporary ‘fiction’. For my research, much of it online, I’d also been regularly listening to radio, watching TV etc. but it was on the morning of the 12th Sept 2016, which changed everything. Or at least it began to. The BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire was talking of Eion Morgan, the England One Day Cricket Captain and his doubts over security on the then upcoming Bangladesh Tour in which she quotes a source as him being “pathetic”.

Posner,* Kathryn Spier,** & Adrian Vermeule*** Abstract: The maxim “divide and conquer” (divide et impera) is invoked frequently in law, history, and politics, but often in a loose or undertheorized way. We suggest that the maxim is a placeholder for a complex of ideas related by a family resemblance, but differing in their details, mechanisms and implications. We provide an analytic taxonomy of divide and conquer mechanisms in the settings of a Stag Hunt Game and an indefinitely-repeated Prisoners’ Dilemma. A number of applications are considered, including labor law, bankruptcy, constitutional design and the separation of powers, imperialism and race relations, international law, litigation and settlement, and antitrust law. Conditions under which divide and conquer strategies reduce or enhance social welfare, and techniques that policy makers can use to combat divide and conquer tactics, are also discussed. • Recognition of a Third Gender Submitted By
Committee: Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee Issue title: Recognition of a Third Gender Submitted by: Kinga Bagyó, Deputy President of the SHCC Edited by: Eszter D. Kovács, President of the ECOSOC Introduction Gender is a social construct ascribing masculine or feminine cultural norms as expectations to individuals based on their biological sex. Biological sex is determined by the type of genitalia one has, while sexual orientation is about who they are attracted to. All these three terms are independent of each other and can influence personal identity, which is one’s idea of oneself. When someone doesn’t identify as specifically male or female, they can instead identify as ‘third gender’, ‘transgender’ or ‘genderqueer’. Some countries have already introduced a non-binary gender classification in order to provide another option to self-identification to people who combine both femininity and masculinity in their gender expression or to everyone who are outside cisnormativity. Three or more genders have been recognised long ago in some societies, where ‘third gender’ is also a social category with particular duties and social norms. The state of personally identifying as, or being identified by society as, a man, a woman, or other, is usually also defined by the individual's gender identity and gender role in the particular culture in which they live, since not all cultures have strictly defined gender roles. However, in societies that has not accepted yet the existence of a third gender; transgender, intersex and queer individuals regularly face harassment, social discrimination and violence. One of the largest reasons that such people face inequality is due to prejudice and the lack of public understanding of their discomfort caused by their assigned sex.

Psychology Research, August 2019, Vol. 9, No.8, 303-318 doi:10.17265/2159-5542/2019.08.001 D DAVID PUBLISHING Understanding Relational Dysfunction in Borderline, Narcissistic, and Antisocial Personality Disorders: Clinical Considerations, Presentation of Three Case Studies, and Implications for Therapeutic Intervention Genziana Lay Private Psychotherapy Practice, Sassari, Italy Personality disorders are a class of mental disorders involving enduring maladaptive patterns of behaving, thinking, and feeling which profoundly affect functioning, inner experience, and relationships. This work focuses on three Cluster B personality disorders (PDs) (Borderline, Narcissistic, and Antisocial PDs), specifically illustrating how relational dysfunction manifests in each condition. People with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) experience pervasive instability in mood, behavior, self-image, and interpersonal patterns. In relationships, they tend to alternate between extremes of over-idealization and devaluation. Intense fear of abandonment, fluctuating affect, inappropriate anger, and black/white thinking deeply influence how they navigate personal relationships, which are often unstable, chaotic, dramatic, and ultimately destructive. They have a fundamental incapacity to self-soothe the explosive emotional states they experience as they oscillate between fears of engulfment and abandonment. This leads to unpredictable, harmful, impulsive behavior and chronic feelings of insecurity, worthlessness, shame, and emptiness. Their relationships are explosive, marked by hostility/contempt for self and partner alternating with bottomless neediness. Manipulation, lying, blaming, raging, and “push-pull” patterns are common features. Individuals with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) exhibit a long-standing pattern of grandiosity and lack of empathy. They have an exaggerated sense of self-importance, are self-absorbed, feel entitled, and tend to seek attention. Scarcely concerned with others’ feelings, they can be both charming and exploitative.
