You should note that the interests of the CLH Pipeline System are conserved by means of the Energy Act 2013, in particular Part IV of the Act, and other legislation such as the Pipeline Safety Regulations 1996. It is, however, the Energy Act 2013 that prohibits any development and most intrusive activities within the Easement Strip without specific consent from CLH Pipeline System. CLH Pipeline System Easement Strips are 6 metres wide and can incorporate other associated CLH Pipeline System facilities. Central Services will be able to provide guidance on the required procedures for entering into a Works Consent and provide confirmation on permitted development and intrusive activities. The whole process of obtaining Works Consent can take between four and six weeks depending on circumstances at the time of application. To reiterate, you should not undertake any work or activity without first contacting the CLH Pipeline System Operator for advice and, if required, Works Consent. You should also be aware that landowners and third parties have a duty of care not to carry out any works that have the potential to damage CLH Pipeline System apparatus. Please note that implementation of any unapproved work that affects a CLH Pipeline System Easement Strip may result in serious consequences in terms of health and safety, expense and other attendant liabilities. The cloth towns of Bradford-on-Avon, Trowbridge and Westbury were thriving when John Leland visited in 1540; but GD Ramsay thought they had passed their golden age by 1550 and declined during the late sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Joan Thirsk – following the precedent of John Aubrey, who wrote a survey of north Wiltshire in the 1660s – characterised the region as ‘cheese country’. Based on new archival research, this thesis argues that, far from declining, cloth manufacture in west Wiltshire grew throughout the Tudor era and remained strong under the early Stuarts; that production of this crucial trade commodity gave the region national significance; and that profits from the woollen trade were the main drivers of change in west Wiltshire over the period 1530-1680.

It was proposed by Councillor Aylen, seconded Lord Lansdowne that council should support, agreed unanimously. Trevor Jenkins spoke on behalf of the Calne Community Campus Project and Calne Community Area Partnership. Calne Community Campus Project, to maximise community services in three easy to access locations. Lord Lansdowne asked on capital for the proposals, Councillor Crisp explained that facilities would be dependant on the sale of existing Wiltshire Council property. Wiltshire Council would provide administration and financial support when any proposals agreed. Calne Community Area Partnership to bring everyone together by working on local projects, promoting community events. Creating a two year plan gathering information on facilities for Calne community. Alfbed Chaeles Smith, M.A. INCE remarkable atmospheric and meteorological pheno- mena, which have been observed in Wiltshire, do undoubt- edly belong to its Natural History, I shall offer no apology to the members of our Society for bringing before them a detailed account of the terrific hurricane, (of unprecedented violence in this country, as I believe,) which swept over a long but narrow district in the Northern division of the county on December 30th, 1859. This has been deemed of sufficient importance and interest, not only to attract hundreds of the curious from various distant parts to see the scene, but to call forth the attention of Mr. Gh A. Rowell1 the scientific assistant keeper of the Ashmolean Museum, at Oxford, who has for many years given his attention to such subjects, and who has carefully investigated the phenomena of our hurricane, to ascertain their bearings on the theory of storms, and with a view (as I understand) of bringing the subject under the consideration of the Meteorological department of the Board of Works. But I would crave the indulgence of my readers for the imper- fect manner in which I have explained some of the details, arising from an insufficient acquaintance with the science of meteorology. At the same time, as I am well aware that in giving a full account of this most extraordinary tornado, I shall have to state facts which will appear to the uninitiated to border on the marvellous, and to relate occurrences, which at first sight seem almost impossible (but which, as I know them to be true, I shall not on that account flinch from detailing) I would disarm the incredulity of the sceptical, by 1 1 would beg here at the outset to express my warmest thanks and obligations to Mr.
