Directions: From Waipapa Road, turn onto Pukewhau Rd, then Mangare Rd, then Landing Road. Campsite is at the end of Landing Road beside the Waikato River. Access: Last 1 km winding gravel. Cornering tight for large motor homes. Note: Bring your own firewood. Boat launching area but no boat ramp. Dogs with a DOC permit only, email [email protected]. The campsite is beside the lake – beware of flooding. There is a wheelchair accessible toilet available. LATITUDE: -38.16623 LONGITUDE: 175.65767 STANDARD 2 Ngaherenga 16 Camp beside the towering Pureora Forest. Look out for kākā, kākāriki, robins and short-tailed bats in the trees around the campsite. Directions: Barryville/Maraeroa Rds, off SH30, 20 km east of Benneydale adjacent to Pureora Village. Access: Gravel road. Note: Toilets are not wheelchair accessible. LATITUDE: -38.51126 LONGITUDE: 175.56235 STANDARD 3 Kakaho 25 Camp next to Kakaho Stream. Walk the Rimu Track through thick forest to a stunning viewpoint. Directions: Follow Link Rd from Pureora Village or Kakaho Rd from SH32. Access: Gravel road. Note: No cash payments are accepted at self- registration. LATITUDE: -38.56843 LONGITUDE: 175.71775 STANDARD 4 Piropiro 16 Piropiro is at the midpoint of the Timber Trail cycleway, close to the Maramataha suspension bridge. Directions: Off SH4, on the Ongarue–Waimiha Rd. Turn east at Waimiha over bridge onto Ongarue Stream Road, turn right onto Kokomiko Road. Access: 13 km on gravel road from Kokomiko Road to campsite.
