Think about the qualities that make a comic book superhero: Extra Ordinary Abilities and Powers. Courageous. Strong Moral Code. A Great Sense of Responsibility. Fighting Spirit. Mental Stability. These heroes are faced with many challenges but they fight to overcome them. But not all superheroes are works of fiction… In these strange and difficult times, we are seeing countless people in all areas of society stepping up to aid and support others - these people are REAL LIFE superheroes! Click the link below to design your own NHS superhero. You can even download and print the hero that you create! I’ve added mine as an example. https://www.heroized.com/ Art and Design - Superhero Logos/Costumes One of the most iconic things about a superhero is that they all have a unique logo usually found on their chest (or shield, belt buckle, car, helicopter, what have you), like the classic ones you see above and we know exactly who they are just by seeing this logo. Most logos are a symbol that represents the hero’s identity either by being linked to their name or their superpower. Have a look at some superhero logos online and why not even challenge yourself to play the quiz and see how many you can guess correctly (I got 65%!) Guess the superhero quiz: https://www.thequiz.com/the-biggest-nerd-cant-match- these-logos-to-their-superheroes-can-you/ Your challenge is to create a logo for a NEW superhero. You can use the superpower ideas below for inspiration OR just completely design your own hero’s superpower. You can also adapt an existing logo if you want. - Wind power - Water power - Super hearing - Invisibility - Can communicate with animals As always, you can show your work in any way that you wish to: - Draw/paint/colour it - Why not make the logo out of paper/card/fabric and turn one of your existing toys into a new superhero (I’m going to add mine on to a stuffed sheep that I’ve got!) - If you have any fabric pens/paint why not turn an OLD t-shirt into a cool new superhero t-shirt/costume (WITH YOUR ADULTS PERMISSION FIRST!!!) - Or something completely different! Here’s an example of a logo for a new superhero with the powers of a scorpion! BANKSY ART Look at the amazing new art piece by our already-studied artist, Banksy. In class, we have already discussed how Banksy’s work has subtle meanings. Can you analyse and interpret the new piece? REMEMBER: in art there are no right or wrong answers, only your opinions and if you can justify your interpretation then that is excellent! If you’re going to be a superhero you’re going to need some equipment! Your challenge is to try to make one (or more) items that a superhero can use. The easiest material to use is cardboard but you can use anything that you can get your hands on! You could make: Captain America’s shield. Thor’s hammer (Mjonlir) or axe (Storm Breaker). Iron Man’s helmet or even his suit of armour! Black Widow’s stun batons. Female Thor’s helmet. Daredevil’s nun chucks. Or ANYTHING else that inspires you! You could even invent your own equipment! We’ve linked just one webpage and video guide but there are loads of tutorials for different superhero builds on YouTube so why not have a look. There’s also loads of examples below to inspire you! Obviously you don’t need a glue gun or anything, I’m just going to use sellotape for mine! And if you’re going to use scissors or a sharp knife please make sure an adult is there! https://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Thor-Costume https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfyGrEI5p4w BONUS FREE CHOICE ACTIVITY IDEAS Make your own set of Superhero Top Trumps to play with.
