A request for a correction has been received from Winckworth Sherwood on behalf of the Appellant’s in respect of the Secretary of State’s decision letter on the above case dated 3 June 2020. This request was made before the end of the relevant period for making such corrections under section 56 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 (the Act), and a decision has been made by the Secretary of State to correct the error. 2. There is a clear typographical error in the IR, specifically at IR12.18 where there is an incorrect reference to Phase 4 when the intention was to refer to Phase 3. The correction relates to this reference only and is reflected in the revised Inspector’s report attached to this letter. 3. Under the provisions of section 58(1) of the Act, the effect of the correction referred to above is that the original decision is taken not to have been made. The decision date for this appeal is the date of this notice, and an application may be made to the High Court within six weeks from the day after the date of this notice for leave to bring a statutory review under section 288 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990.

    Feminism, citizenship and social activity: The role and importance of local women’s organisations, Nottingham 1918-1969 Samantha Clements, B.A., M.A. Thesis submitted to the University of Nottingham for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy January 2008 ABSTRACT This local study of single-sex organisations in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire is an attempt to redress some of the imbalanced coverage given to this area of history thus far. A chronological study, it examines the role, importance and, to some extent, impact of a wide range of women’s organisations in the local context. Some were local branches of national organisations, others were specifically concerned with local issues. The local focus allows a challenge to be made to much current thought as to the strength of a “women’s movement” in the years between the suffrage movement and the emergence of a more radical form of feminism in the 1970s. The strength of feminist issues and campaigning is studied in three periods – the inter-war period, the Second World War and its immediate aftermath, and the 1950s and 1960s. The first two periods have previously been studied on a national level but, until recently, the post-Second World war era has been written off as overwhelmingly domestic and therefore unconstructive to the achievement of any feminist aims. This study suggests that, at a local level, this is not the case and that other conclusions reached about twentieth century feminism at a national level are not always applicable to the local context. The study also goes further than attempting to track interest in equality feminism in the mid years of the century by discussing the importance of citizenship campaigns and the social dimension of membership of women’s organisations.

There is a danger that that pride can lead to complacency. The elections in May 2010 were a reminder that we should constantly review the mechanisms that are in place to enable the citizen's right to vote. The 2010 elections will be remembered for the crowds outside the polling stations. In Hackney and Islington, those crowds were waiting patiently to vote but hundreds were unable to exercise that fundamental right when the polls closed. In other parts of London, those crowds were last minute canvassers, trying to cajole voters into supporting, or not supporting, particular candidates .

Abstract This article analyses the changing nature of news media-police chief relations. Building on previous theoretical work (Greer and McLaughlin, 2010), we use the concepts of ‘inferential structure’ (Lang and Lang, 1955) and ‘hierarchy of credibility’ (Becker, 1967) to examine former Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) Commissioner Sir Ian Blair’s ‘trial by media’. We focus on the collective and overwhelmingly hostile journalistic reaction to Blair’s declaration in 2005 that, (a) the news media are guilty of ‘institutional racism’ in their coverage of murders, and (b) the murders of two ten- year-olds in Soham, 2001, received undue levels of media attention.
