Invitation to the 45th Annual Meeting of the GLAS Automobil Club International e.V. To Melle / Osnabrück From June 2 nd to 5 th, 2017, the GLAS Club invites you to its annual meet in the Osnabrücker county, that attracts annually thousands of tourists with its mountainous and idyllic recreational landscape of the Teutoburg Forest and the Wiehen Mountain Range. Well-known vital baths also invite foe a visit. On the way from Melle to Bad Essen you can discover a series of hidden and dreamy chateaus, castles and manor houses. Fascinating for young and old are the 150 million-year-old original footprints of dinosaurs from prehistoric times, which can be found in the rock of a former quarry at the village of Barkhausen. For those interested in history, The Varusschlacht museum and exhibition grounds near Kalkriese (north of Osnabrück) will be of interest, where a large number of excavations are testament of the lost battle of the Roman legions against an onslaughts of Germanic tribes over 2000 years ago. Founded in 780 by Charlemagne, the city of Osnabrück has become a major metropolis in the south-west Lower Saxony. The big city on the Hase river is not only a bishop's and university town but was also the site of a major event for Europe. Here and in the neighboring Westphalian city of Münster in 1648 a piece treaty was signed to end the 30 year war, one of the most bloody and disastrous Wars in European history. The name of the town of Osnabrück is inseparably connected with the company Karmann, which produced here attractive sports cars and convertibles until it’s takeover by the VW Group. Our event hotel, the modern Van Der Falk hotel in Melle, with its 120 rooms and large meeting rooms will give us plenty of space for the accommodation of the participants and for the evening events as well as the Annual General Meeting. For participants arriving in motorhomes and campers, there are storage and overnight accommodation in close proximity to the hotel. However, campers should be self-sufficient. Furthermore there is a beautiful campsite at the Ludwig lake in Melle-Gesmold, about 6 km from the event hotel. If you cannot or do not want to participate in the annual meet for the entire four days, you’re welcome to sign up for a Saturday and/or Sunday only. For Saturday that will only cost 10 Euro per person. There is free entrance to the hotel Museum, a free snack in the museum courtyard and participation in the trip back to Osnabrück. If you like to join us on Sunday to the journey through the Teutoburg Forest to Bad Iburg and Bad Rothenfelde and the lunch buffet in Bad Laer you will have to pay 12.50 Euro per person. Please register as a guest only on the registration form. Have we made you curious? Would you like to have a good time with your GLAS vintage cars again? Then join us on this 2017 Pentecost weekend in the Osnabrücker county, where at the Automuseum Melle also one of the largest and most interesting Oldtimer collections in Germany invites you to visit. From December 2016 on there is here a special exhibition about the GLAS Automobiles, starting with the Goggo scooter right up to the eighth cylinder GLAS. The entire product range of the Lower Bavaria company is presented here to the public. You need to, as always, make you own hotel reservation. For this we have included a separate registration form. The deadline for the applications is March 31 st , 2017. The registration at the campsite at the Ludwig lake should be made by telephone (+49 54502/2132) by the end of January 2017.
