RETFORTON is a village and parish, about 3i miles E. from Evesham. There B is in this village one of the most magnificent walnut trees in the country, both as regards size and beauty. Bretforton contained, according to the last census re turns, a population of 575. The CHURCH, dedicated to St. Leonard, is a stone edifice, standing near the top of the village, It is in the early Gothic style of architecture, with a square embattled tower, containing a peal of six bells. The interior of the church contains some Tudor decorations. In the windows are some rare specimens of ancient stained glass, and there are still visible traces of the doorway• and stairs which led to the rood-loft • Rev. George S.
